An apartment building in Atlanta is getting a lot of attention for using robotic dogs as security instead of traditional human guards.
Residents of GE Lofts, an apartment complex in Atlanta’s Castleberry Heights, are getting a high-tech security upgrade following a string of burglaries that have caused frustration.
Okay, so back in November 2025, this was crazy – six armed guys just went through the entire apartment parking lot, breaking into every single car. They grabbed anything they could get their hands on, and it’s not like the place was unprotected! We had bright lights, security cameras, even a razor-wire fence, but they didn’t seem to care. It was a total nightmare.
Trespasser chased away by robotic security dogs
After several months, GE Lofts found an innovative way to address the security issue: robot dogs from Undaunted Robotics Security. These robots, which resemble the famous models from Boston Dynamics, use lights, cameras, and alarms to patrol the property around the clock.
The system isn’t fully self-sufficient. People still watch the security cameras and dispatch patrol dogs whenever they see something that looks unusual.
According to Bryan Dinner, founder of Undaunted Robotics, they plan to have a human operator remotely control each robot, allowing them to communicate, contact emergency services, and help calm down tense situations, as he explained to Fox 5.
Okay, so it feels like I’m stepping into a Black Mirror episode, but it’s actually just everyday life in Atlanta now. This company, Undaunted, got a ton of funding – almost a million bucks – back in February, and they’re using it to send these ‘security packs’ out on the streets. Basically, they’re autonomous robotic dogs patrolling around, and they’re controlled by…

According to Fox5, someone illegally entered the Lofts’ property, but was quickly scared away by the robotic security dogs.
Resident William Gilbert described the situation, saying, “They brought the dog out, and it ran away right away – it was actually pretty neat.” He also explained that a team monitors their security cameras at night, checking the alerts that are triggered.
While we sleep, they stay awake and watchful, guarding our property and keeping us safe. It’s been a really good arrangement so far.
Dinner envisions a future where his robots work alongside police, potentially taking over the roles currently filled by police dogs. It appears artificial intelligence is now expanding into areas beyond just replacing human jobs.
The Undaunted Robotics security dogs are working well, but other robots haven’t had as much success. For example, a robot in California started dancing uncontrollably in a restaurant, causing a disruption because it couldn’t stop.
