Anonymous Content is joining forces with the independent German production company BTF (Bildundtonfabrik), to establish a collaborative project in one of Europe’s major markets – Germany.
The collaboration will commence with Ari Folman’s eagerly awaited forthcoming work titled “Death and the Penguin,” an adaptation of a book penned by Andrey Kurkov.
BTF is a renowned German production company that has produced hit shows such as “How to Sell Drugs Online,” “King of Stonks,” and “Buba” for Netflix; “Pauline” for Disney+, and “Perfekt Verpasst” for Amazon Prime Video.
Through the partnership with BTF, Anonymous Content can capitalize on their influential position in the German market, whereas BTF can access Anonymous Content’s extensive network, specifically the sales division of AC Studios, for creating and producing high-quality movie and television content.
Through a partnership established in Germany, Anonymous Content aims to strengthen relationships with regional creators and businesses in significant international markets. This includes Anonymous Brouhaha in Australia/New Zealand, Anonymous Content Brazil, Anonymous Content España, France’s Anonymous Federation, Anonymous Content Nordic, and U.K.’s AC Chapter One.
In simpler terms, the German collaboration is part of Anonymous Content’s plan to collaborate more closely with local producers and companies in various strategic locations across the globe. This includes partners like Anonymous Brouhaha in Australia/New Zealand, Anonymous Content Brazil, Anonymous Content España, France-based Anonymous Federation, Anonymous Content Nordic, and U.K.-based AC Chapter One.
David Davoli, president of Anonymous Content’s international division, will work side-by-side with Matthias Murmann and Philipp Kaessbohrer from BTF in managing the joint venture. According to Davoli, BTF represents the vanguard of a fresh narrative era, unapologetic about defying conventional norms when it comes to storytelling methods.
Davoli stated that their self-reliant attitude and eagerness to explore new frontiers make them an indispensable partner in our mission to produce captivating content with both regional and global significance. By pooling our resources, we aim to construct daring stories and provide top-tier entertainment to viewers worldwide,” Davoli explained further.
In their shared announcement, Murmann and Kaessbohrer expressed that partnering with Anonymous Content would enable them to make “the leap onto the international scene.
One of the world’s top independent production companies, Anonymous Content, is renowned for championing artists and their unique perspectives. This aligns perfectly with our belief in fostering daring concepts and outstanding narratives,” they added.
Lately, International projects handled by AC include “Snow Sister” through Anonymous Content Nordic, “Boy Swallows Universe” with Brouhaha Entertainment, and “Best Interests” via AC Chapter One. Forthcoming international titles from AC include a sci-fi thriller titled “Panopticon,” produced by Anonymous Brouhaha, as well as a documentary series about Brazilian football legend Sócrates, directed by Walter Salles, under the banner of Anonymous Content Brazil.
The pre-production stage of “Death and the Penguin,” directed by Folman, is funded by Germany’s Film and Media Foundation NRW, and it is being produced in collaboration with JMAG Productions, a company based in Basel, Switzerland.
