Annapurna Interactive, the publisher of popular indie games like Cocoon, Stray, and Outer Wilds, just finished a presentation at Tokyo Game Show. They revealed three new games in about ten minutes. While I was hoping to see announcements for games like Mixtape (which I loved at Summer Game Fest), they weren’t shown. Still, there are some exciting new titles on the way. Luckily, attendees at Tokyo Game Show will get a chance to play all three, so we should have some first impressions soon!
Annapurna Interactive reveals three brand-new video games during Tokyo Game Show
The showcase began with a look at D-Topia, a sci-fi game set in the future. Players take on the role of a human helping people in a world managed by artificial intelligence. We also met the creators of D-Topia, Marumittu Games – a small team of just two people: a programmer and an artist.
Okay, so from the trailer, it’s pretty clear things aren’t what they seem in this AI-run city. It looks like we’ll be uncovering some dark secrets beneath the perfect surface. The game, called *D-Topia*, is aiming for a 2026 release, and I’m excited to hear it’s coming to basically everything – PC via Steam and Epic, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and even both the regular Switch and the new Nintendo Switch 2!
Annapurna showcased People of Note, a unique musical RPG developed by Iridium Studios. In this turn-based game, you collect characters from various music genres and use their abilities to battle musical opponents and overcome challenges. You play as Cadence, who is determined to win the Noteworthy Song Contest, but she needs help from a talented band to succeed.
The first trailer for *People of Note* is brief, but it definitely sparked my interest in how the game will combine music and performance. Currently, *People of Note* is scheduled to release in 2026 on PC (through Steam and the Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
During Annapurna Interactive’s showcase, we also got our first look at *Demi and the Fractured Dream* from Yarn Owl. The game is clearly inspired by classic 3D *Legend of Zelda* titles, but features a unique fantasy world with plenty of ruins to discover and challenging bosses to defeat. For a small independent studio, *Demi and the Fractured Dream* seems like a very promising and ambitious action-adventure game, and I’m excited to play it.
Although not shown in the trailer, the game’s description reveals that players will be able to use the power of the void. This power comes with a curse that slowly weakens you, but also makes you stronger. This sounds like a compelling story element. *Demi and the Fractured Dream* is scheduled to release in 2026 on PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and both Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
