Nintendo has announced that Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be available on the new Nintendo Switch 2, responding to many requests from players.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons launched in March 2020 and quickly became a massive hit, selling over 40 million copies. The game offered players a relaxing way to create and customize their own island getaways, becoming a cultural phenomenon and remaining a popular Nintendo title ever since.
Following the release of the Switch 2, players have eagerly awaited an updated version of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Now, after a long wait, Nintendo has announced that it’s on its way – and will be available on the new console soon.
Animal Crossing announced for Switch 2 with free update
Nintendo just released a new trailer showing that the game is coming to the Switch 2 with improved graphics and faster gameplay. They also announced a big, free update that all players will receive.
A major free update arrives on the launch day, adding lots of new content! Players can check out a brand-new resort hotel, use more features with amiibo, and collect special collaboration items. The update also improves online play with expanded features and many other enhancements.
This is the largest update to the game since the Happy Home Paradise expansion released in 2021. If you’re new to the game and getting it on the Switch 2, this version includes everything and is the best way to play Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
The trailer revealed that Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can upgrade to a special Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of the game by buying an upgrade pack. This means fans who own both the original and the new console won’t have to buy the game again.
