As a huge Spider-Man fan, I was so excited to hear Andrew Garfield talk about filming No Way Home! He said that all three of us – him, Tobey, and Tom – just naturally started improvising a lot of our scenes together. Apparently, it wasn’t scripted, and it really helped create this amazing, authentic feeling of brotherhood between our Spider-Men on screen. It’s awesome to know that connection felt real!
It’s been nearly five years since Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire all played Spider-Man together on screen in the third movie of Holland’s Spider-Man series. That film brought together different versions of Peter Parker from across the multiverse, along with villains from their individual stories.
This brought the three heroes together, and they teamed up to send all the villains back to their home universes. Throughout the process, they playfully argued about their foes, compared their abilities, and even shared stories about their personal lives.
Andrew Garfield recently shared in an interview that all the scenes featuring the three Spider-Men in No Way Home were actually made up on the spot, rather than being scripted.
Andrew Garfield says being called “amazing” by Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man was “personal and perfect”

During an interview with Hits Radio, Andrew Garfield shared that the scenes where the three Spider-Men simply discussed what it’s like to be Spider-Man were completely made up on the spot. He described those moments as feeling like a satisfying conclusion.
The entire scene was made up on the spot. The goal was to have the three Spider-Men – the three Peter Parkers – simply discuss what it’s like to be them and share their experiences. They filmed it in long, uninterrupted takes, hoping to capture some great moments, and they ended up with a lot of usable footage, as it turned out.
He explained that making the film felt like a satisfying ending for him personally, and it brought him closer to his co-stars, Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland.
Returning for the third film with Tobey and Tom felt like a satisfying conclusion for me,” Garfield said. “It was truly special for all of us to acknowledge our time as Spider-Man, but also to connect with each other and build a genuine brotherhood. It was a really sweet experience.
When asked about hearing Maguire call Garfield’s Spider-Man ‘Amazing’ – a clear nod to the movie titles – the actor shared how much it meant to him, especially considering he hadn’t been in the franchise since 2014.
I was completely caught off guard by that moment, and I just thought, ‘That was really… nice.’ To hear it from Tobey, who was my Spider-Man when I was growing up, made it incredibly special and personal. It was a really happy experience for me to be involved.
