As a fervent admirer, I’m thrilled to share that MK2 Films, the esteemed independent film studio based in the city of lights – Paris, has appointed Emmanuel Pisarra, previously with Kinology, as their new Head of Acquisitions. This move is certainly music to the ears of film enthusiasts like myself!
Pen takes over the role previously held by Olivier Barbier and becomes a part of MK2 Films’ expanding workforce. This team now includes Vanessa Saal, recently appointed executive consultant and U.K. lead; Yasmine Talli, who manages co-productions; as well as consultants Frances Harvey and Anna Pokorska.
He’ll be responsible to Fionnuala Jamison, the managing director of MK2 Films, for their future projects. Meanwhile, Pisarra – currently at the Berlin Film Festival – will be sculpting the company’s upcoming lineup and spearheading sales efforts in France and the Benelux region.

Pisarra has always been impressed by mk2 Films, known for its bold and innovative approach to filmmaking that balances artistic authenticity with commercial success. With his extensive background in acquisitions and sales, he brings a wealth of knowledge to the table.
At Kinology, Pisarra took charge of worldwide film sales for productions like “Annette” by Leos Carax, “Bergman Island” by Mia Hansen-Løve, and “The Man Who Killed Don Quixote” by Terry Gilliam.
Additionally, he held a position at Doc & Film International, managing acquisitions and sales for notable projects like “Fire at Sea,” the Golden Bear-winning film by Gianfranco Rosi, as well as the collections of Chantal Akerman and Frederick Wiseman.
Recently, Pisarra served as the head of Asia for Unifrance, the French film promotional body. During his tenure, he established Unifrance’s regional office in Tokyo and fortified the connections between French cinema and the Asian marketplaces.
