Beware! This article reveals details from the *Amazing Race* Season 38 episode, “What Would Houdini Do?” If you haven’t watched it yet, we recommend streaming it on Paramount+ before continuing, as spoilers lie ahead!
The current season of *The Amazing Race*, featuring former contestants from *Big Brother*, is taking place across Europe and has been really fun to watch so far. We’ve seen teams working together and facing some tough – and occasionally frustrating – challenges. The latest episode continued this trend, with teams racing around Budapest, Hungary, all hoping to win the grand prize.
The Hungary leg of the competition was tough for everyone, but Joseph and Adam Abdin faced even greater difficulties than the show portrayed. We saw some of the struggles Jag and Jas Bains had with transportation, but the episode didn’t show the extra steps the Abdin brothers had to take to reach their destination, and I think that would have been valuable to include.
Joseph Abdin Explained Just How Hard It Was To Get A Taxi In Hungary
The recent episode of *The Amazing Race* proved to be incredibly challenging for Joseph and Adam Abdin, causing them to drop from a strong position within the top four teams to seventh place. They struggled to find a taxi and got lost while trying to reach their clues. Joseph later shared additional details on the Chat BCC app, explaining what happened behind the scenes that viewers didn’t see.
The taxis wouldn’t stop for us – Adam, Jas, and me. I even had to run in front of one to get it to stop, but the driver dropped us off in the wrong place. To make things worse, everyone we asked for directions was unhelpful and sent us even further away from where we needed to go.
I have to say, a particularly poignant moment in the latest The Amazing Race episode showed Jag and Jas having to cover their turbans with hoods just to flag down a taxi. The brothers themselves pointed out this isn’t a new experience for them, which really added another layer to the scene. It was a subtle but powerful illustration of the challenges they face, and honestly, it stuck with me long after the episode ended.
We were trying to get a taxi, but several drove right past. It’s funny, often taxis seem to avoid us, but thankfully a kind driver finally stopped when we put up our hood.
I was glad *The Amazing Race* addressed that problem, though I wish we’d seen Joseph actually jump in front of a taxi – that would have been something!
I Would’ve Liked To See That Scene Just To Drive Home The Struggles Those Two Teams Faced
I realize each episode of *The Amazing Race* has limited time and needs to cover many teams. However, it wasn’t clearly shown that Joseph and Adam’s difficulties weren’t about their skills, but simply about the trouble they had getting a taxi and receiving inaccurate directions.
Phil Keoghan Just Admitted ‘The Worst’ Amazing Race Idea He’s Heard From Fans, And It’s A Doozy
As a big fan of *The Amazing Race*, I really felt the show could have delved deeper into the unique struggles Jag and Jas, and Joseph and Adam, experienced – things the other teams just didn’t have to deal with. It would have added another layer to their journeys, you know?
It’s safe to say *The Amazing Race* generally focuses on the positive aspects of the competition, primarily showcasing teams as they progress through each leg of the race. Given the limited time in each episode, it’s understandable that Joseph and Adam Abdin’s challenges weren’t explored in depth, especially since the show also needed to cover the events leading to Kat Dunn and Alex Romo’s elimination.
I’m disappointed we didn’t have more time to resolve the taxi problem, as it affected the results for two teams.
Luckily, players can use other platforms to share experiences we missed and help us understand the challenges people deal with.

You can start streaming *The Amazing Race* and more on Paramount+ for as little as $7.99 a month or $59.99 a year. Paramount+ offers two monthly plans – Essential for $7.99 and an ad-free Premium plan for $12.99. For the best value, consider an annual subscription to save money on your favorite shows and movies.
You can keep watching *The Amazing Race* on CBS Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m. Eastern Time. I’m really enjoying the current season, but I think the way the show is edited gives away who the likely winner will be.
