The 24th season of American Idol will premiere on Monday, January 26, 2026, and Ryan Seacrest will be back as host. Joining him on the judging panel will be returning favorites Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Idol winner Carrie Underwood. It’s great to see Seacrest involved – he’s been with the show since the very beginning! Luke Bryan even publicly acknowledged how much work Seacrest puts in, saying it’s more than many people realize.
Ryan Seacrest is famous for his incredible work ethic. He juggles a radio show, hosting both American Idol and Wheel of Fortune, leading a charity, and many other projects – it often seems like he’s constantly busy. Some people underestimate the skill involved in hosting, thinking it’s just reading lines, but it requires much more. Seacrest has successfully hosted American Idol for many years, proving his talent in this area.
As a big fan of both Luke and Ryan, I was really interested to hear Luke talk about what it’s like judging ‘American Idol’ with Ryan Seacrest. He was chatting with TV Insider and explained how challenging Ryan’s job actually is, and he had nothing but praise for how Ryan handles it all. It’s clear Luke really respects Ryan’s work!
Ryan has a lot of preparation to do – he needs to learn the scenes, camera angles, and everything else. Seeing how much work he puts in before we even start filming really shows you why he’s so good at his job. He just knows what needs to be done and gets it done immediately.
It’s amazing how Ryan Seacrest manages to learn lines, understand camera positions, and handle the unexpected twists of reality TV. He’s made a few mistakes over the years, but after hosting American Idol for so long, it all likely comes naturally to him. As Bryan pointed out, he’s a seasoned professional, and it probably feels like just another day at work for the longtime host.
I always knew hosting American Idol was demanding for Ryan Seacrest, but it’s surprising to learn the extent of what he manages behind the scenes. Despite the intense workload, he keeps returning each season, suggesting he either doesn’t mind it or genuinely loves what he does. Honestly, I can understand why – Idol continues to be a huge success.

Ryan Seacrest recently talked about his demanding schedule, assuring everyone that he does get enough sleep – and even a “good night’s sleep.” Despite appearing to juggle an incredible amount of work, including hosting both Wheel of Fortune and Idol full-time, he clearly has a system and strong work ethic that allows him to manage it all effectively.
With American Idol Season 24 already underway with auditions – and available to watch on ABC or stream on Hulu – Ryan Seacrest is keeping a very busy schedule. That will continue when the season officially premieres and the live shows start. Live TV is always unpredictable, but Seacrest has consistently shown he can handle anything that comes his way.
