AMC Theatres is increasing the cost of its Stubs A-List monthly movie subscription plan, but dedicated cinema enthusiasts will actually get more value for their investment. This upgrade includes an extra weekly reservation, enabling them to watch up to four movies each week instead of the current limit of three per week.
Effective from May 7th, the monthly cost for Stubs A-List will be $27.99 in all AMC theaters nationwide, except for New York and California where it will be $25.99 per month. Earlier, the subscription price was $24.95 across all AMC theaters and $22.95 everywhere other than California, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. Additionally, AMC is reducing the age limit to allow anyone aged 13 or older to subscribe to Stubs A-List. As usual, these tickets cover premium formats like IMAX and Dolby Cinema without any additional charges.
In a message to our subscribers, our CEO, Adam Aron, stated that this is the first price hike we’ve had in years, but despite that, A-List remains an outstanding value for money.
In 2018, AMC’s Stubs A-List service was introduced, costing monthly subscribers $19.95 to watch up to three movies each week. This subscription plan aimed to compete with MoviePass, which at the time provided a seemingly unrealistic $9.95-per-month deal for daily movie viewing. Regrettably, MoviePass didn’t last long and declared bankruptcy before resurfacing in 2023 under new management and a significantly altered pricing structure.
In most instances, the price adjustment for an A-List membership will still be cheaper than purchasing tickets for two movies a month as a non-member. This is particularly true if you opt for premium format screenings and buy your tickets online. We value your commitment to enjoying films on the big screens of AMC, and we’re excited to let you know that the benefits of an A-List membership are about to get even better.
