Alpha School uses AI instead of teachers and it costs $55k to attend

Believe it or not, a school using only AI – no teachers – and costing $55,000 a year already has some students enrolled.

Artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly common in our daily lives. In education, students are using AI tools to simplify research, and some are even using smart glasses to find answers while taking tests.

Many teachers are currently restricting the use of AI in classrooms. But what if the focus shifted, and AI was used instead of traditional teaching?

That’s the idea behind Alpha School. They’re experimenting with using AI to help students learn, moving away from the traditional model of a teacher leading instruction.

AI school charges $55k per student

I was reading on CBS that Alpha School is really expanding! They already have 22 schools across the country, and they’re opening a new one in Chicago. It’s exciting – they’ve already got two students signed up for next year, and almost 40 others are interested. It sounds like it’s going to be a popular school!

The report indicates that students, whose families pay $55,000 for tuition, spend as much as two hours each day learning with the help of artificial intelligence, followed by sessions with an instructor focused on developing practical life skills.

I was really interested to learn that the people helping students online aren’t just some AI program! The founder, Mackenzie Price, explained to CBS that they’re actually using the same learning materials as kids in regular classrooms. It’s not like ChatGPT is just making up questions on the fly – these are real people using a solid curriculum, which is awesome!

While it sounds a bit wacky, it isn’t the most out-there method of teaching at the moment. 

So, a company called Luminaris over in Tokyo started something really cool back in February called Wish High. Basically, it’s an online school where all the teachers are VTubers! It’s a pretty unique way to learn, and I’m definitely checking it out.

Young farmers are now learning valuable skills using Farming Simulator 2025, which is considered a realistic digital version of actual farming.
