All Grow A Garden Cosmetics – How To Get And How To Use Them

I’m loving the new Cosmetics feature in Grow A Garden! It really lets you customize your garden and make it look exactly how you want. If you have a specific theme you’re going for, you can probably find plenty of decorations to match. And the best part is, with every event, they add even more items – you can find them all neatly organized in the cosmetics menu. It’s awesome!

Grow A Garden isn’t just about optional extras. Certain rare cosmetic items are actually needed to unlock the full potential of powerful pets. Plus, newer cosmetic items can give your plants special mutations, making them more valuable.

How to move Grow A Garden Cosmetics

To open the Grow A Garden Cosmetics menu, simply click or tap the icon that looks like a hammer and wrench. If you have new, unowned cosmetics, you’ll see a red number next to the icon. You can always see how many new items you have by using the arrow on the inventory screen. If you’re looking for something specific, use the search bar within the Cosmetics menu.

To add something to your garden, simply click or tap on it from the menu. You can also select a cosmetic item to adjust its placement. To move items around, hold down one of the arrow keys (or corresponding buttons on a touch screen) and drag your mouse or finger to the desired spot. Here’s a breakdown of what each button does:

  • Arrow Keys – this moves an item’s placement in your garden.
  • Anti-Clockwise Arrow – flips an item on the vertical axis.
  • Clockwise Arrow – rotates an item horizontally.
  • Inverted Anti-Clockwise Arrow – flips an item on the horizontal axis.
  • Arrow with padlock – implied that it locks the item into place, but this doesn’t work.
  • Box – returns the item to the cosmetic inventory.

The best Grow A Garden Cosmetics

There are lots of decorative items you can get through events, and some of them do more than just look nice in your garden. For instance, the Fall Fountain can give your plants the ‘Fall’ trait, which you’d normally only see during a special Grow A Garden event. Other decorations need a specific pet to activate them – like the Hex Serpent, which uses the Hex Circle to get rewards and change single-harvest plants.

Unfortunately, many of these items were only offered during specific events and probably won’t be available again for at least a year – and some are very rare. You might be able to find them at seasonal markets like the Fall Market, even when the original event isn’t running. Plus, a couple of them require you to either befriend NPCs by giving them food (see our Grow A Garden Beginner’s Guide for details) or use special Grow A Garden codes, which seem to still be active.

These Grow A Garden Cosmetics let you interact with plants or fruit, or serve as additional features in the game.

  • Hot Spring – the Nihonzaru pet rests in this Cosmetic.
  • Pancake Stack – every 15-30 seconds, it attracts pets to its location.
  • Cooking Pot – the Gorilla Chef uses this Cosmetic.
  • Cooking Kit – used to cook food.
  • Fall Fountain – has a chance to give the Fall mutation to a fruit in your garden.
  • Witch’s Cauldron – the Black Cat naps near this Cosmetic.
  • Hex Circle – plant precisely five single-harvest plants inside of it to trigger the Hex Serpent.
  • Sarcophagus – have alongside a Mummy in your garden to use this pet’s ability.
  • Spell Book + two Halloween Candles – two components to unlocking the Lich Crystal item.
  • Green Bean Chamber – interact to talk to the Green Bean spirit to get the outfit.
  • Mutation Machine Booster – reduces the time of the mutation machine to 50 minutes instead of 60.
  • Pet Incubator – deposit a pet inside to let it grant XP over time. You can feed the machine plants to power it.

Grow A Garden Cosmetic Shop inventory

In addition to the special decorations available during the Grow A Garden event, you can also find more items at Isaac’s Cosmetic Shop. It’s located right next to the Grow A Garden gear shop and always has a few garden decorations for sale. These include things like signs, decorative pieces, and fence designs. The shop’s selection changes every four hours, with up to nine new cosmetics, fences, and signs appearing each time. Here’s a list of all the different items that have been offered at the Grow A Garden Cosmetic Shop recently:
