Universal Pictures has announced a release date for The Mummy 4, which has excited fans. While people are happy to see the original cast returning, there’s a strong and growing call on social media for one specific actor to be included in the film.
Fans erupt over The Mummy 4 release date announcement
The fourth installment of The Mummy is scheduled to hit theaters on May 19, 2028. Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, both Academy Award winners, are confirmed to return as their famous characters, adventurer Rick O’Connell and Egyptologist Evelyn O’Connell. This will be Weisz’s first time appearing in a Mummy film since 2001’s The Mummy Returns.
The new Scream movie is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (known as Radio Silence), and they’re hoping to bring a fun, scary, and comedic vibe to the franchise. Details about the story are being kept secret, but the announcement was met with huge excitement from fans online. Many celebrated the news, with one fan exclaiming, “Let’s go!” and another happily stating, “A Mummy movie with the original cast… this is amazing!”
The Mummy 4 fans want Arnold Vosloo’s return
While everyone is excited about the potential return of The Mummy franchise, fans are strongly campaigning for Arnold Vosloo to reprise his role as Imhotep, the iconic villain from the original movies. This push for Vosloo has become a major topic of discussion among fans.
Fan reactions clearly show they loved the dynamic between Brendan Fraser’s character and Arnold Vosloo’s Imhotep in the original movies. Many are hoping Vosloo will return, with one fan tweeting about ‘The Mommy, the Daddy… and the other Mummy,’ and another directly asking about Imhotep’s potential return, emphasizing that it’s the most important thing. It’s clear that this chemistry was central to what made the first films so enjoyable for a lot of viewers.
The fourth Mummy movie is bringing back Sean Daniel, the producer who has overseen the series since the 1999 remake. He’ll be working with producers William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein on the new film.
