Season 4, episode 5 of Invincible really ramps up the war with the Viltrumites. For the first time, the show’s most powerful heroes are working together as a team to fight back, and the rest of the season will center around this united effort.
Ever since the end of Invincible season 3, fans have anticipated this storyline. With Conquest defeated, the Viltrumites were determined to still conquer Earth, but Allen the Alien and Omni-Man were ready to fight back. In Invincible season 4, episode 5, these two characters return to Earth with a mission: to gather allies from among Mark Grayson’s friends and help them resist the Viltrumite invasion.
By the end of the episode, the core group fighting against the Viltrumites is established. While a few more heroes will join later, here’s a look at everyone currently on the team and what they can do.
9. Invincible
Invincible is a vital part of the Coalition of Planets. He officially joins them in season 4, episode 5 of the show, traveling to Talescria to fight against the Viltrumite Empire. Because he’s half-Viltrumite, Invincible possesses the same incredible abilities as his enemies, including super strength, speed, flight, and extreme durability.
Throughout the series Invincible, especially in moments like the intense fight with Conquest in season 4, episode 5, Mark Grayson truly embodies his superhero title. Thanks to his powerful Viltrumite heritage and ability to quickly heal, Mark is as close to a true Viltrumite as anyone could be. This makes Invincible a vital member of the Coalition of Planets.
8. Omni-Man
The same holds true for Mark’s father, Omni-Man. As a pure Viltrumite, he has all of Mark’s powers, but to a much greater extent. Because he ages slowly, like Mark, Omni-Man has lived for nearly a thousand years and gained a huge amount of experience.
Omni-Man is a remarkably powerful warrior from Viltrum, trained from childhood. He’s among the strongest Viltrumites, surpassed by only a few like Thragg, the Grand Regent featured in Invincible. As seen in the first season finale of Invincible, Omni-Man is significantly stronger than his son, even though they have the same abilities. Considering his age, combat experience, raw power, strategic mind, and understanding of Viltrumite vulnerabilities, Omni-Man is arguably the Coalition’s most valuable hero.
7. Oliver
Okay, so you’ve got Oliver, right? He’s Omni-Man’s other kid, and his heritage is wild. He’s half-Viltrumite like his dad, but also half-Thraxan, which is this race that ages people up super fast. Basically, he was born just a few years ago, but looked like a teenager because of that Thraxan side. The cool thing is, as he gets older, his Viltrumite genes start to kick in, and he’ll start aging at a more normal pace. It’s a really interesting twist on the whole super-strength family dynamic!
Because Oliver now carries Viltrumite DNA, he’s gained the same incredible abilities as Omni-Man and Invincible – including flight, super speed, enhanced strength, durability, and rapid healing. This makes him a valuable asset for the Coalition in their fight against the Viltrumites. While he’s still young and less experienced in combat, Oliver has proven he can hold his own so far.
6. Allen the Alien
I’ve always been impressed by Allen’s role in the Coalition of Planets. He’s the one who originally reached out to Invincible, explaining what the Coalition was all about. He’s also responsible for recruiting some of our most important members, like Omni-Man and others who’ve become vital allies. It’s amazing considering he’s a Unopan and wasn’t naturally gifted with any powers. The Coalition gave him abilities through genetic engineering – now he can fly, withstand incredible impacts, and possesses super strength. It’s pretty inspiring, honestly.
In season 2 of Invincible, Allen proved he wasn’t quite as powerful as the Viltrumites. However, because of changes to his DNA, whenever Allen nearly dies, he gets stronger and his powers grow dramatically. Now, Allen’s abilities are almost identical to those of the Viltrumites, and he’s just as strong.
This, as well as his ability to make allies easily, renders Allen an important Coalition member.
5. Thaedus
Thaedus leads the Coalition of Planets, the original group formed to oppose the Viltrumites. He’s a true Viltrumite, just like Omni-Man, and has all the same powerful abilities. He’s infamous for killing Emperor Argall of Viltrum, which led to him being called “The Betrayer.”
Following these events, Thaedus committed himself to ending the Viltrum Empire’s reign of death and destruction. Beyond his inherent Viltrumite strength, he’s a brilliant strategist, and it was his creation of the Scourge Virus that nearly wiped out the Viltrumites. Along with his powerful leadership, Thaedus is arguably the most crucial figure in the Coalition – the group simply wouldn’t have formed without him.
4. Telia
Okay, so Telia is Allen the Alien’s right-hand woman – she’s a general in this big Coalition of Planets group. Honestly, she really shines as a leader; she’s great at keeping her head and giving orders when things get crazy. What’s interesting is she doesn’t seem to have any special powers or anything like that… at least, not yet. We’ll have to see if that changes down the line, but right now, she’s basically the Coalition’s top strategist – a real tactical genius.
3. Tech Jacket
Let’s talk about Tech Jacket! We saw her really come into her own in season 4, episode 5 of Invincible when she was officially welcomed into the Coalition of Planets. But honestly, she’s been a solid hero for a while now. Remember season 3 and that crazy Invincible War? She was holding her own against multiple versions of Invincible – a seriously impressive feat! It’s great to see that strength and experience recognized with this new role.
The show Invincible hasn’t explained where Tech Jacket came from yet, but season 4, episode 5 offered some clues. We learned that the person inside the Tech Jacket suit, Zoe, received it from a race called the Geldarians. This armor was specifically created to fight Viltrumites and functions as a powerful weapon of war.
Zoe’s suit dramatically boosts her speed, strength, and resistance to injury, and allows her to fly – similar to the Viltrumites. It’s also incredibly advanced, capable of automatically repairing damage, generating protective shields and safe areas, and even playing video games, as seen in a funny moment after the credits of episode 5 in season 4.
The Tech Jacket suit is equipped with strong energy beams that can take down even the most powerful foes. Although we haven’t seen the full range of Tech Jacket’s abilities in Invincible yet, she’s still a crucial member of the Coalition of Planets.
2. Space Racer
Space Racer is a member of the Coalition who hasn’t been fully introduced yet. He was recruited by Allen and Omni-Man in season 4, episode 2 of Invincible. Space Racer is a wanderer of the cosmos who Omni-Man once met. Omni-Man considered Space Racer – or, more accurately, his weapon – a potential danger to the Viltrumites.
It appeared that Omni-Man killed Space Racer and hid his body and the Infinity Ray inside an asteroid. But Space Racer actually survived and promised to team up with the Coalition to defeat the Viltrumites. As seen in season 4, episode 2, Space Racer is incredibly strong and durable, able to fight even powerful heroes like Allen and Omni-Man.
Space Racer possesses a unique ability called technopathy, allowing him to control his Infinity Ray and hover bike with his mind. The Infinity Ray is his most powerful weapon, strong enough to obliterate planets and stars – and even capable of defeating the incredibly durable Viltrumites. Given these impressive powers, Space Racer will be a vital asset in the Coalition’s upcoming battle.
1. Battle Beast
Okay, let me tell you about Battle Beast. He’s the last piece of the Coalition of Planets’ super-team puzzle, and honestly, he started as a real problem for Invincible back in season one. We later learn he’s a Dorian – a race of incredibly powerful warriors. Basically, Battle Beast roams the galaxy looking for a good fight, seeking out anyone who can actually give him a challenge. He’s a powerhouse, and a fascinating addition to the team, even with his initially antagonistic role.
He joined the Coalition of Planets mainly because they offered him opponents who were as powerful as he was. Like the Viltrumites he fights alongside and against, Battle Beast possesses incredible strength, resilience, speed, senses, stamina, and is nearly invulnerable.
Though Battle Beast can’t fly, he’s a master of weapons and fighting, making him incredibly powerful. As of now in Invincible, he’s one of the strongest characters and a key asset to the Coalition of Planets as they prepare for future conflicts.
