In just its first year, the new DC Universe (DCU) already features twelve post-credit scenes. These short scenes after the movie’s end have become popular thanks to Marvel Studios, often hinting at future storylines or introducing new characters. Warner Bros. used a similar tactic with the previous DC Extended Universe (DCEU), famously bringing back Henry Cavill as Superman in Black Adam only to later move away from that plan. However, James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, has stated that the DCU reboot will avoid repeating this mistake.
The head of the DC Universe told Screen Rant he enjoys including post-credit scenes as a reward for viewers, but he doesn’t plan to create scenes just to surprise or shock the audience.
Gunn explained that his approach is partly influenced by his experience at Marvel Studios, where he observed that audiences often gravitated towards the characters considered the most foolish or unconventional.
You know, working at Marvel, I realized something pretty interesting. The post-credit scenes fans seemed to love the most were often the silly, unexpected ones. And honestly, I’ve noticed – and I’ve mentioned this before – that we’d often tease future storylines in those scenes, and sometimes even Marvel itself would, but then those storylines just… never really went anywhere. It was a bit frustrating, to be honest!
James Gunn, learning from Marvel’s mistakes with post-credit scenes that never led anywhere, has promised that DC Universe teasers will only hint at projects that are definitely in development. He wants to avoid creating exciting post-credit moments that ultimately go nowhere.
I’d only be willing to include a post-credit scene that hints at something bigger if it genuinely connects to a confirmed project, like the upcoming ‘Supergirl’ movie. Knowing that movie is happening, a tie-in would make sense. But I don’t want to create a shocking scene just for the sake of it if we never follow through on the setup.
The first twelve post-credit scenes in the new DC Universe (DCU), appearing in Creature Commandos, Superman, and Season 2 of Peacemaker, have generally been lighthearted and funny. However, a few of them are more memorable than others.
12.) Peacemaker Season 2, Episode 8 (Post-Credit)

The post-credits scene in the second finale of Peacemaker Season 2 might not seem particularly strange compared to everything else that happens in the show. It features an ARGUS agent breaking into uncontrollable laughter at John Economos’ terrible joke, which he’s using to try and distract Rick Flag Sr.’s group.
This scene doesn’t really land as funny, and it weakens the impact of the episode’s cliffhanger where Peacemaker is left stuck in Salvation. Plus, the other post-credits scene at the end of the finale is much more effective and ties into the ending better.
11.) Peacemaker Season 2, Episode 7

The next-to-last episode of Peacemaker ends with a surprising scene: Lex Luthor’s assistant, Sydney Hapeersen, is caught by an ARGUS agent enjoying some explicit content on Pornhub, making it clear he’s using his downtime for personal pleasure.
This joke feels out of place and a bit disturbing, especially since it follows a very emotional scene where Peacemaker barely escaped a heartbreaking situation.
10.) Superman (Mid-Credit)

It’s interesting that the first official glimpse of Krypto the Superdog in the DC Universe actually came after the credits of the Superman movie, showing the Kryptonian heroes overlooking Earth in a beautiful scene. However, the reveal wasn’t a complete surprise, as photos of it had leaked online beforehand.
Fans can expect to see Krypto back in action as part of the DC Universe in 2026. His next appearance will be a space-based adventure, similar in style to the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.
9.) Peacemaker Season 2, Episode 5

Throughout the second season of Peacemaker, a recurring joke involves Freddie Stroma’s character, Adrian Chase, sharing supposed facts about sea creatures—most of which are hilariously wrong.
The story continues after the credits of Episode 5, with further discussion about manta rays – something Peacemaker and Adebayo find frustrating.
8.) Peacemaker Season 2, Episode 2

Tim Meadows quickly became a popular character with fans after appearing in the second episode of Peacemaker. With his new position at Checkmate, his role is likely to grow even bigger in the future of the DC Universe.
Any additional scenes with Fleury are great, particularly when they involve John Economos boastfully recounting a sexual encounter – using crude language – immediately after a discussion about Pokemon.
7.) Creature Commandos Episode 7

James Gunn has said most of the post-credit scenes in his DC Universe won’t be crucial to the overall story, but the finale of Creature Commandos did reveal David Harbor’s character is indeed Frankenstein, confirming a major detail after the episode’s events.
The recent scene showed that Frankenstein not only lived after being shot by The Bride, even while trying to warn Rick Flag Sr. about Princess Illana Rostovic, but also that his feelings for someone are still very strong as the new season begins.
6.) Peacemaker Season 2, Episode 3

It’s definitely very odd that Vigilante removed John Economos’ pants while he was passed out from being drunk to clean them.
Despite his imperfections, Adrian Chase’s thoughtful actions, especially the forehead kiss, clearly demonstrate how much he cares for John Economos and the rest of the 11th Street Kids.
5.) Peacemaker Season 2, Episode 6

In Peacemaker Season 2, Episode 6, a particularly funny scene unfolds when Harcourt pretends to be her alternate-universe self to Keith. She tells him she and Chris regularly talk to the Smiths’ mothers, and that she’s become like a “ghost” since passing away when the Smith brothers were children.
It seems Peacemaker’s mother only died in the alternate universe of Earth-X. James Gunn revealed on the show’s podcast that he knows her current location within the DC Universe and considered including her in this season.
4.) Peacemaker Season 2, Episode 4

A key actor from The Suicide Squad joined Peacemaker Season 2 to play a new villain. Michael Rooker will portray Red St. Wild, described as the world’s best eagle hunter and the main enemy of Eagley.
After surprisingly sampling Eagly’s waste, St. Wild exclaimed that Eagly enjoyed a finer diet than his own, mentioning luxurious foods like beluga caviar and top-grade wagyu beef. This likely hints at the prestige that comes with Eagly being the incredibly powerful Prime Eagle, since Chris probably couldn’t afford such expensive meals.
3.) Peacemaker Season 2, Episode 1

James Gunn strongly hinted that Jared Leto won’t be playing the Joker again. In the first episode of the second season of Peacemaker, characters Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) and Peacemaker (John Cena) made fun of Leto’s band, Thirty Seconds to Mars.
At first glance, this moment seems like a simple continuation of a previous joke, but James Gunn’s pointed comment about Jared Leto adds a clever, self-aware layer to it.
2.) Superman (Post-Credit)

After the movie ended, James Gunn treated audiences to an extra scene featuring two of Superman‘s standout characters, played by David Corenswet as Superman and Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific.
Superman annoyed Mr. Terrific by jokingly mentioning he’d rebuilt Metropolis with a few imperfections, giving fans a final glimpse of their dynamic and a reminder of the damage caused by Lex Luthor’s rift.
1.) Peacemaker Season 2, Episode 8 (Mid-Credit)

While the finale of Peacemaker Season 2 wasn’t perfect, it clearly showed that the DC Universe will focus on the U.S. government’s anxieties about people with superpowers. This ultimately leads Rick Flag Sr. to create the Salvation prison.
Okay, so in this scene, the Secretary of State suggests building this crazy… well, basically a force field around Salvation that would instantly eliminate any metahumans trying to escape. It’s this over-the-top idea, and honestly, everyone points out how incredibly paranoid it sounds. It really highlights just how far gone things are at that point in the story, and it’s played for a bit of dark humor too.
