Alice Winocour’s ‘Couture’ with Angelina Jolie Hits EFM

The French movie director Alice Winocour’s fashion-themed film titled “Couture,” featuring Angelina Jolie, is set for the European Film Market (EFM).

The movie, originally titled “Stitches,” recently wrapped production in Paris.

During the bustling events of Fashion Week in Paris, three distinct women encounter each other: American filmmaker Maxine Walker (portrayed by Jolie), South Sudanese model Ada (making her screen debut with Anyier Anei), and French makeup artist Angèle (Ella Rumpf). As they navigate the complexities of life and grapple with global turmoil, ‘Couture’ delves into the emotional journeys and scars carried by these women.

Amidst the chaos of Fashion Week in Paris, three unique individuals – American director Maxine Walker (Jolie), South Sudanese model Ada (debuting actress Anyier Anei) and French makeup artist Angèle (Ella Rumpf) – find themselves intersecting. Struggling with the world’s hardships and their personal dilemmas, ‘Couture’ offers an exploration of the emotional depths and hidden wounds within these women’s lives.

Rounding out the cast is Louis Garrel.

The UTA Independent Film Group, involved in securing financing and managing global and North American rights, will present the film package at EFM. HanWay Films takes care of international rights distribution. Previously working with Winocour on her Cannes Directors’ Fortnight premiere “Revoir Paris,” Pathé is responsible for distributing the film in France.

The creative crew features cinematographer Andre Chemetoff, costume designer Pascaline Chavanne who has been nominated for multiple Césars, and Florian Sanson in charge of production design.

The movie is being made by Angelina Jolie, Charles Gillibert (from “Bergman Island,” CG Cinema), Zhang Xin (“History of Sound”), and William Horberg (“History of Sound” from Closer Media) in collaboration. Bob Xu has the role of executive producer.

Couture” was made in collaboration with France 3 Cinema and was financially supported by La Région Île-de-France, Canal+, Ciné+ OCS, France Television, and Chanel.

Winocour is represented by UTA and UBBA.

Jolie is represented by WME and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.
