Alice Feeney’s Best-Seller ‘Beautiful Ugly’ Sets Film Adaptation (EXCLUSIVE)

“Beautiful Ugly,” a new novel from author Alice Feeney, will be adapted for the screen.

The film production company, Hidden Pictures, established in 2022 by Todd Lieberman, has obtained the rights for a book and intends to adapt it into a movie based on the genre of psychological thrillers.

On January 14, ‘Beautiful Ugly’ debuted and swiftly climbed the New York Times best-seller list within its first week. The narrative unfolds around Grady Green, a writer, whose phone call with his wife Abby is abruptly ended when she suddenly brakes her car and exits. He later locates her car near the edge of a cliff, but Abby remains mysteriously absent. A year passes, and while he’s still grappling with grief, Grady embarks on a journey to a quaint Scottish village where he encounters a woman who bears an uncanny resemblance to his missing spouse.

Hidden Pictures is delighted to collaborate with Alice on her striking and chilling new book. The statement reads that its surprising plot twists, incisive social critique, and gripping tale make it ripe for an engaging adaptation. We eagerly look forward to discovering the ideal creative team to help us breathe life into this impactful narrative.”

“Hidden Pictures is overjoyed to be working with Alice on her captivating and spine-tingling new book. In a statement, they express that its unanticipated plot twists, poignant social commentary, and riveting storyline make it an exciting prospect for adaptation. They can’t wait to find the ideal team of creatives to help them transform this powerful tale into reality.

After devoting fifteen years to journalism at the BBC, Sarah Feeney transitioned into writing novels such as “Sometimes I Lie,” “His & Hers,” “Rock, Paper, Scissors,” and “Good Bad Girl.” Several of her books have been selected for adaptation into films or television shows. Among these, “His & Hers” featuring Jon Bernthal and Tessa Thompson is set to premiere on Netflix this summer.

It’s been a delightful journey seeing my books transformed, and I’m overjoyed that Hidden Pictures is bringing ‘Beautiful Ugly’ to life. From our initial encounter, I felt a strong connection with them, and I’m eagerly anticipating the realization of Grady Green on the screen.

In this arrangement, Lieberman and Alex Young from Hidden Pictures are set to produce, whereas Feeney, along with David Glickman, takes on the role of Executive Producer.

At present, Hidden Pictures is working on a Paul Feig-directed movie adaptation of Freida McFadden’s book “The Housemaid.” This film will feature Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried as the main actors. Additionally, Hidden Pictures is also producing the Amazon MGM series “Voltron,” with Rawson Marshall Thurber as director and Henry Cavill starring in the leading roles.

Feeney is managed by Jonny Geller, who works at Curtis Brown, as well as by Williams Morris Endeavor (WME). On the other hand, Hidden Pictures is handled by WME and the law firm Johnson Shapiro Slewe & Kole LLP.
