Alan Ritchson’s Netflix Action Movie War Machine Unveils Trailer

Action movies have consistently been a hit with audiences, and lots of actors aim to become action heroes. Alan Ritchson has definitely achieved this, gaining widespread popularity after his role in Reacher, and his new projects show he’s here to stay.

The actor has starred in many popular movies, including the recent film that received negative reviews. He’s now taking on a new role in the sci-fi action movie War Machine, a project with Netflix – a departure from his usual work with Amazon MGM Studios. Just before the film’s March 6th release, Netflix released the first trailer, which you can watch below.

The trailer begins with Jack Ritchson’s character waking up in full military uniform in an open field. He learns he’s a top contender, with his fellow soldiers complimenting his endurance and power. He simply responds, “I just want to finish the race, sergeant major.”

The trailer also shows this isn’t a typical war movie. While training for battle, the soldiers encounter a strange ship that suddenly attacks them. “Something’s following us, and it’s relentless,” one soldier says, hinting at a deeper, more unsettling threat.

The movie follows an elite US Army Ranger team whose rigorous final training exercise becomes a desperate battle for survival when they encounter a terrifying and unexpected enemy.

The new science fiction movie is directed by Patrick Hughes, known for The Expendables 3, and he also co-wrote the screenplay with James Beaufort. Joe Manganiello stars as Sam, and the film features a supporting cast including Dennis Quaid, Stephan James, Jai Courtney, Esai Morales, Blake Richardson, Keiynan Lonsdale, and Daniel Webber.

Todd Lieberman and Alexander Young from Hidden Pictures, along with Patrick Hughes and Greg McLean of HUGE FILM, and Rich Cook of Range, all served as producers on War Machine.

War Machine Could Become Netflix’s Next Big Movie

Alan Ritchson has demonstrated his talent for action roles in several movies, including his well-known performance as Jack Reacher. He recently appeared in Motor City, which premiered at the Venice International Film Festival in 2025.

Alan Ritchson is reprising his role as Jack Reacher for Season 4, following his appearance in Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. However, War Machine is shaping up to be a truly memorable series.

Ritchson described the film as a major production for Netflix, saying it’s “one of the biggest movies they’ve ever had.” He also mentioned he has several other projects in the works, adding, “I’ve got like nine [movies] coming out, it’s crazy!” He specifically highlighted War Machine for Netflix.

Everyone’s expecting War Machine to be Netflix’s biggest movie yet. The first trailer suggests it’s going to be a massive success – it’s easily the coolest and most ambitious thing they’ve ever produced.

War Machine premieres on Netflix on Mar. 6.
