Gameforge has revealed that the first big update for Aion Classic EU in 2026, called “Ignite” (Update 4.5), will be released very soon this year.
The latest update introduces the Phoenix class, a smoother experience for new players, and a brand-new open-world area called Teva. You can learn more in the announcement and watch the trailer below. Visit the official website for details, and download the update through the Gameforge client.
As a huge Aion Classic EU fan, I’m so excited about Update 4.5, called ‘Ignite’! Gameforge just announced it’s coming in early 2026, and it sounds massive. The biggest news for me is the brand new Phoenix class – I can’t wait to try it out! What’s really cool is that they’re releasing the whole update all at once, instead of in bits and pieces. They’ve listened to feedback from other Aion communities and are making improvements and tweaks right from the start, so it should be a really smooth and balanced experience for everyone – whether you’re a long-time player or just getting back into the game.
New Class Spotlight: Phoenix
Update 4.5 introduces Phoenix, a new character who’s a quick, mid-range damage dealer. She uses Flame Revolvers and Flame Leather armor, and is built for fast-paced combat. Phoenix is strong at chaining together quick attacks, controlling areas of battle, and dealing a lot of damage quickly in both player-versus-environment and player-versus-player situations.
Her unique ability, Overcharge Energy, builds up whenever she lands a critical hit. When fully charged, it puts her in a powerful state that greatly increases her magical skill damage for a short time. Phoenix is highly mobile and offers a lot of options for players, with abilities like aerial movement, pulling enemies together, rapid-fire attacks, and the ability to reset her skills, rewarding skillful timing and accuracy.
Streamlined Onboarding for New and Returning Players
Update 4.5 simplifies the beginning of Aion Classic. It eliminates the old system where you had to choose a base class first. Now, when you create a character, you immediately start as the advanced class you want, letting you jump right into your favorite way to play.
Also, players now begin in their faction’s main city instead of a beginner area. This gives faster access to important services, clearer instructions on how to progress, and a quicker introduction to the game. These changes make the early game experience smoother and help players get to the more exciting content faster.
Teva: A New Open-World Progression Zone
As a player, I’m really excited about Teva! It sounds like a huge new area that’s going to be the main place to progress in Update 4.5. From what I’ve read, it’s a massive open world with all sorts of things to do – random events, missions, and even rare monsters. They’re adding hidden islands you can reach through portals, which sounds awesome, and a new currency that resets weekly so we can keep earning cool rewards.
But the biggest thing for me is monster taming! Apparently, we can capture rare creatures using something called Prism Cores. Plus, there’s going to be both solo and group content that ties directly into getting better gear and progressing further in the game. It looks like they’re really expanding the endgame, which is exactly what I was hoping for!
Update 4.5 significantly deepens long-term character growth with several new systems:
- Battle Armour Gear Line – A new endgame equipment path that evolves into higher-tier Battle-Hardened and Battle-Seasoned Armour, offering powerful stat upgrades and a new combined defensive attribute.
- Arcamant – Equipable progression items that introduce new combat-enhancing stats, including Critical Damage Increase, with multiple variants for PvE and PvP builds.
- New High-Tier Manastones – Expanded build customization through stronger Fabled-grade stones tied to open-world and endgame activities.
Skill Reboot, RvR Enhancements, and QoL Improvements
Update 4.5 brings major improvements to skills in Aion Classic EU. It includes complete skill reworks for each class, plus new abilities and Stigmas. We’ve also made a lot of adjustments to balance the game, making combat easier to understand, offering more ways to customize your character, and improving performance for both player-versus-environment and player-versus-player content.
The game’s Realm vs Realm (RvR) battles have been significantly improved with better raid setups, easier scheduling, more rewarding experiences, and deeper progression. Beyond RvR, we’ve also made many quality-of-life updates to make crafting, upgrading items, managing your inventory, and getting around the game world much smoother.
