Billboard recently reported that AI-created musicians are increasingly showing up in the music charts, and now, one of these AI artists has reached the number one spot on a specific chart.
This week’s best-selling country song on the Billboard chart is ‘Walk My Walk’ by Breaking Rust, but it’s actually a fake, as WhiskeyRiff was the first to discover.
This song wasn’t made with any traditional instruments or a human vocalist. Everything – the guitar parts, the lyrics, everything – was created entirely by artificial intelligence. It’s been described as music for those who strive and imagine.
AI country singer tops Billboard charts with Walk My Walk
Breaking Rust is quickly gaining popularity, already reaching over 2.1 million monthly listeners on Spotify even though they’re a new artist on the platform. They also have a surprisingly large following on Instagram with over 36,000 followers, despite not posting any original content. It seems most of this engagement is actually from other automated accounts, judging by the overwhelming amount of emoji comments.
While Walk My Walk reached number one, it’s important to remember this chart focuses on individual song downloads, which aren’t as common these days with so many people streaming music. Still, the song is already very popular, racking up over 3 million streams on Spotify.
The Spotify account appears to be linked to a person named Aubierre Rivaldo Taylor, who is likely the one creating the prompts for the AI.
Their songwriting has produced enduring country lyrics, including lines like “I was born this way. Been loud too long,” and the powerful sentiment, “Laugh at the scars, they’re proof I’m alive.”

Reports suggest Monet was offered a $3 million contract for both future music created using AI and a unique live performance opportunity.
