Under the leadership of Stuart Ford at AGC Studios and AGC Unwritten, its unscripted, non-fiction division headed by President Joel Zimmer, Emily Knight has been elevated to Senior Vice President. Her new role now encompasses overseeing all development within AGC Unwritten.
In 2022, the production company Unwritten began working on an undisclosed project for Netflix and has secured a dozen development deals with other prominent companies such as Amazon, Netflix, History, A&E, TLC, and Food Network. Unwritten has also established international partnerships with Banijay, Leonine, and Mentorn, and plans to unveil new formats at RealScreen and NATPE events.
Knight joined AGC Unwritten as VP two years ago with a formats development mandate.
Previously located in the U.K., Knight has crafted, nurtured, and marketed numerous large-scale original concepts spanning various genres. These include the worldwide phenomenon “Ex on the Beach,” broadcasted on MTV, the survival engineering show “Escape” for Channel 4, updates of popular formats like “How to Look Good Naked” and “10 Years Younger,” as well as the horror game show “Don’t Scream” on BBC Three.
Previously serving as the head of development for Expectation, a company co-founded by Peter Fincham and Tim Hincks, Knight had spent two years overseeing development at Maverick TV, All3Media’s U.K. division. Prior to his role in development, Knight was involved in production for popular shows like “The Voice” and “The Apprentice,” as well as a variety of films and documentary series.
Zimmer stated, “Emily has been an indispensable ally over the last two years, and I’m delighted to keep collaborating with her. She’s a dynamic creative with strong connections both domestically and internationally, and I have no doubt she’ll keep driving Unwritten’s growth forward.
Knight expressed his enthusiasm about further developing the framework established at AGC Unwritten over the past two years. It’s been a joy to have had the creative liberty provided by Stuart, Joel, and Lourdes to contribute in numerous areas at such a rapid pace, and I can hardly wait to see where this new chapter will lead us.

Projects not bound by a script from AGC Studios have encompassed various acclaimed documentaries. For instance, they produced “The Tinder Swindler” for AGC Television, which became Netflix’s most-watched documentary to date. Additionally, they collaborated with CNN Films on three critically-acclaimed documentaries: “Lady Boss: The Jackie Collins Story,” “John Lewis: Good Trouble,” and “Scandalous: The True Story of the National Enquirer.” AGC Studios also served as the international distributor for “Ask Dr. Ruth” and “Michael Moore’s Fahrenheit 11/9.
