According to Collider, a new graphic novel titled Avatar: The Last Airbender – Jet: Rebels and Rhinos will be released on September 8, 2026, offering an emotional prequel that explores the beginnings of the Freedom Fighters and their leader.

Jet’s Untold Origin Finally Comes to Light

Jet’s time on the animated series was short, but he made a lasting impression. He was introduced as the charismatic leader of a rebel group in the Earth Kingdom, and he stood out because he was both likable and morally complex. His journey towards becoming a better person, and his tragic ending, left viewers eager to learn more about his past.

This new graphic novel explores the difficult experiences that haunted Jet before he met Aang and his friends. Years earlier, his home village was destroyed by Colonel Mongke and his powerful Fire Nation soldiers, the Rough Rhinos. This tragic event drives Jet’s desire for revenge and ultimately leads him to create the Freedom Fighters.
