After 20 Years, Skies Of Arcadia Fans Have A Glimmer Of Hope For Something New

It was just announced that Sega has applied for trademarks related to Skies of Arcadia and Eternal Arcadia, sparking excitement among fans as they speculate about potential updates or a new installment in the popular role-playing game series, Skies of Arcadia.

As reported by Gematsu, the two trademarks were submitted on January 16 and made public on January 24. The game we’re referring to, called Skies of Arcadia, was originally named Eternal Arcadia in Japan. This role-playing game, which received critical acclaim, was released by Sega in 2000 for the Dreamcast. Later, it was adapted and released on the Nintendo GameCube in 2002 as Skies of Arcadia Legends.

The game titled “Skies of Arcadia” revolves around characters Vyse, Aika, and Fina, who belong to a band of sky pirates known as the Blue Rogues. They struggle against the oppressive Valuan Empire. For years now, fans have been clamoring for more ports of this game, but “Skies of Arcadia Legends” has only been accessible on the GameCube and not elsewhere.

It’s worth noting that Sega has yet to reveal any fresh updates about Skies of Arcadia. But it’s exciting to know that Sega is working on reviving some classic game series. In fact, as far back as 2023, Sega announced new installments for Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Shinobi, Golden Axe, and Streets of Rage.

It seems that Sega is developing a fresh installment of Virtua Fighter as well. Fingers crossed, the idea of a Skies of Arcadia comeback might not remain just a far-fetched fantasy anymore.
