After 15 Years, “Overwhelmingly Positive” Steam Game Unveils Huge New Update

After 15 years of development, starting in January 2011, the popular indie game Terraria has revealed details about its next major update. Although Re-Logic called the 2020 update Journey’s End the last big patch, they’ve continued to add new features and improvements to the game ever since.

Re-Logic just released a new trailer on their YouTube channel showcasing the upcoming 1.4.5 Bigger & Boulder update for Terraria, which is scheduled to launch on January 27, 2026. The trailer quickly highlights several new features, including character portraits, new music for bosses, a special Skyblock seed, and other additions.

Terraria 1.4.5 Update Adds A Ton Of New Features

The latest update to Terraria doesn’t center around one big theme – instead, it adds little improvements across the entire game. You’ll find new weapons like slime whips and freeze bombs, plus improvements to features like housing. The game also looks better with new backgrounds and updated lighting effects.

In addition to general improvements, the Bigger & Boulder update introduces content from the popular indie game Dead Cells, including weapons like the Flint warhammer and a new summon called Mushrom Boi. The update also features Pals, characters from the game Palworld.

Terraria Is A Gift That Keeps On Giving

I gotta say, Terraria was a real game-changer. It took what Minecraft did with survival and crafting and ran with it in a totally new way, and it’s still super creative today. Seriously, with all the updates they’ve released, there’s already a TON to do. And now, with Bigger & Boulder, things are getting even crazier! It’s not quite as massive an update as Journey’s End was, but there’s still a ridiculous amount of new stuff to explore and build.

Re-Logic has previously announced that they’re planning to add even more weapons, furniture options, and the ability to transform into new creatures. They’re also including some purely fun items, such as beach clothes, a remote-controlled car you can drive, and a vintage-style tube TV for decoration.

This new trailer gives the best look yet at what’s coming in the 1.4.5 update. Information has been released slowly over time, so we’re hoping January 27th will bring a complete list of changes. It’s exciting to finally see so much detail about Terraria’s next update before it launches!
