The mechanical rhino famously used in the 1990s comedy film Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls is now being auctioned off.
Okay, so as a huge Ace Ventura fan, I just heard the rhino Ace crawls out of in the movie is actually going up for auction! Propstore is selling it as part of a collection from Planet Hollywood, which is pretty wild. It’s the actual prop they used in that incredibly memorable scene – I can’t believe it’s real and someone can actually own it!
This is a large, mechanical rhino prop built for the 1995 film sequel, and it features the famously humorous “butt birth” gag. It’s a rare opportunity for collectors to own a life-sized piece of movie history.
How to buy the Ace Ventura rhino prop
The robotic rhino is up for auction at Propstore’s Entertainment Memorabilia sale. Interested buyers can see details and bid on it through their website.
So, I was checking out this awesome prop, and it’s HUGE – about 10 and a half feet long and around 6 and a half feet tall! It’s mostly made of fiberglass, which is cool, but they used foam for things like the legs and tail to keep it lighter, I guess. The listing said it’s been used before, so it has a few battle scars – some chipped paint and scuffs here and there, but honestly, that just adds to the character, you know?
The prop is estimated to fetch between $4000 and $8000 at auction.Collectors interested in the item will need to register with Propstore’s auction system before bidding. Once registered, users can track the lot and submit bids through the site as the auction progresses.
This item is an authentic piece from the Planet Hollywood collection, and Planet Hollywood has been a consistent source of props for Propstore’s auctions.
Currently, the movie collectibles have received six bids, with the highest offer at $4,000. The auction closes on March 25th, giving interested buyers a little more time to get the money together for a truly unique item.
Jim Carrey confirmed he was the one who appeared at the César Awards, after some fans speculated that someone else had attended in his place. The actor’s appearance at the event quickly became a popular topic online.
