Now, they’ve revealed additional details about how productions can qualify for an even higher total rebate of 50%, by meeting new requirements, on both principal photography and post-production costs.

Options involve weaving the UAE’s historical background, cultural aspects, and self-image into the narratives of the productions; performing all post-production tasks within Abu Dhabi; and conducting the principal photography for a film or entire TV series production in Abu Dhabi and/or filming an entire TV series within the emirate.

The enhancement in Abu Dhabi’s refund scheme will increase the maximum limit for cashback rewards from $5 million to $10 million. This means that film production companies, including those from Hollywood, Bollywood, the Arab world, and other regions, can now receive more substantial returns on their eligible expenditures, as granted by the Abu Dhabi Film Commission.

The intent of this recent initiative is to entice a broader array of film productions, not just an increase in quantity, but also variety, beyond the over 170 diverse projects Abu Dhabi has already attracted.

The latest movie set for release by Hollywood is “Dune: Part Two,” where they filmed for nearly a month in the Liwa Oasis, which contributed significantly to the barren, deserted appearance of the fictional planet Arrakis, known for its colossal sandworms.
