Absolum features four playable characters, each with distinct skills and powers. Players begin with two, and unlock the remaining two as they advance through the game.

As a fan, I really love Absolum because it has a character that fits *how* you like to play. Seriously, no matter if you prefer soaring through the air with attacks, casting powerful spells, getting up close with strong punches, or mastering swordplay, you’ll find someone who matches your style. It’s awesome!

This guide will show you how to unlock every character in Absolum. We’ll also break down each character’s moves, helping you find the best fit for your playstyle.

Absolum Starting Characters

Absolum lets you play as either Karl or Galandra, and you can switch between them whenever you like, right from the beginning.

Karl is a versatile fighter who primarily attacks with his fists, but also uses a gun for magical attacks. This allows him to effectively damage enemies both up close and from a distance. His powerful heavy attack lets him slam downwards, stunning opponents and throwing off their balance.

Galandra primarily fights using punches and kicks, but she also has a sword she can wield with a different button. Her sword attacks become even more dangerous when combined with her special Arcana skills, which deliver strong, stunning blows that inflict significant damage.

How to Unlock Cider

You can meet Cider after you defeat the first boss, Gazorg, Son of Zorg, in the Grandery. When you start a new run, you’ll find Cider early on the main path, and she’ll talk to you.

You’ll encounter Cider again in the forest, close to the Underking’s Castle. She’ll need your help in a fight, and once you’ve defeated all the enemies, she’ll agree to return to the Sanctuary to meet with you.

Once you get back to the Sanctuary, Cider will become available to use on your future adventures. You’ll find her near the bonfire, with Gasandra and Karl.

Cider fights much like Galandra, relying on punches and kicks. But Cider has a special heavy attack: she fires a grappling hook to pull herself towards enemies, letting her launch into the air and attack from above.

Cider excels at controlling groups of enemies thanks to her skills, which involve launching powerful, long-distance attacks that can strike several targets at once.

How to Unlock Brome

You’ll be able to unlock Brome a bit later in the game. To get there, you first need to reach Jaroba, the second region. You can do this by defeating the Underking and then taking the boat.

After arriving in Jaroba, follow the main path until you see a scene where enemies are holding Vikhanna captive in vines. Beat the enemies, then destroy the vines to free Vikhanna, who will show you where Brome is on your map.

Once you show Vikhanna the Joyful where Brome is on your map, she’ll go back to the Sanctuary and start selling items. She’s really helpful because she lets you improve your Rituals, which will make completing future challenges much easier.

To officially unlock Brome, you need to go to the location shown on your map. You can get there by continuing through Jaroba and following the paths heading north.

So, you’ll finally get to Brome’s spot, and that’s where I get to help him out in a fight! Once we take down all the enemies, he heads back to the Sanctuary and becomes someone I can actually *play* as – which is awesome!

Brome is a top-tier character in the game, largely because his spellcasting is incredibly effective, especially when facing the toughest bosses at the end.

He attacks quickly with his staff, and his powerful attack releases a damaging spell in a wide area around him. His Arcana abilities emphasize powerful, long-range magic that affects multiple enemies.
