YouTuber sammyuri, famous for incredibly complex Minecraft redstone creations, recently built a version of ChatGPT within the game. The project, showcased in a video titled “I built ChatGPT with Minecraft redstone!”, utilizes approximately five million parameters.
It’s much smaller than today’s AI, which often use billions of components, but it’s still a significant step forward for artificial intelligence within the simple, block-based environment of Minecraft.

As a fan, I learned that Sammyuri didn’t actually *teach* the AI inside Minecraft. They trained it separately first, and then brought the already-trained model *into* the game. So, the learning itself didn’t happen with the redstone and blocks – it just runs the finished AI within Minecraft to create the text we see.
For years, Minecraft players have amazed everyone with complex redstone creations – things like working calculators, functional hard drives, and even emulators for other games. But building a neural network this large and intricate is a completely different challenge.
Sammyuri cleverly recreated the way machine learning models handle information inside Minecraft, building a system of intricate connections without using any modifications, command blocks, or extra content packs.
Even though the current system is limited – responses are basic and it uses a relatively small amount of data – it proves that machine learning is possible within Minecraft.
