Okay, so the sequel to *Red, White & Royal Blue* is officially happening, and the title is *Red, White & Royal Wedding*! Yes, you read that right – more Henry and Alex, played again by the ridiculously charming Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez (or, as one critic playfully dubbed them, the “Snooty Blonde Prince and Self-Important Son of Texas President”). There’s a change behind the camera, though. Matthew López isn’t directing this time around. Instead, Jamie Babbit, known for *But I’m a Cheerleader*, is taking the helm, working from a script penned by Gemma Burgess, López, and the original book’s author, Casey McQuiston. Bring on the royal nuptials, I say!
Not much is known about the story, beyond what the title suggests. The first movie ended with Prince Henry publicly coming out and Alex’s mother being re-elected. Two years seems like a short time to plan a wedding, doesn’t it? Perhaps Alex and Henry want to get married before the Supreme Court has a chance to revisit the Obergefell v. Hodges case. It’s a bit of a downer to think about, but this should ultimately be a happy, fictional gay wedding. We’ll share more details, including a release date for Red, White & Royal Wedding, as soon as we have them.
