Sources say a fun nod to The Devil Wears Prada is planned for this Sunday’s Academy Awards, potentially teasing the upcoming sequel. Anne Hathaway is already scheduled to present, and fans are wondering if any of her former co-stars will join her. While she recently presented alongside Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt, another similar reunion might feel repetitive. Could we see Stanley Tucci or Tracie Thoms take the stage instead? Of course, the cast might have other obligations – perhaps a very dull convention they’re required to attend.
Calling it a Devil Wears Pradainspired ‘moment’ is pretty vague. It could be something simple, like her walking out with a copy of Vogue*, or a silly prank, like someone making her a badly-made grilled cheese sandwich on stage. Considering it’s linked to the next installment, it might even involve her feigning amnesia and acting like she doesn’t recognize anyone.
Although it’s not an official reunion event, several cast members from the movie Bridesmaids are expected to be together at the Oscars ceremony. Producers Katy Mullan and Raj Kapoor have confirmed that Rose Byrne (who received a nomination this year for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You), Maya Rudolph (currently starring in Oh, Mary! and known for her comedic timing), Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, and Ellie Kemper will all be present. Meanwhile, everyone is eagerly anticipating whether Wendi McLendon-Covey will also attend.
Mullan hinted at a Marvel-themed event, mentioning both big-name stars and superheroes would be present, along with an alien character. Fans are speculating whether this refers to Groot or Emma Stone, potentially connected to a project called Bugonia.
The show will also feature a touching tribute to director Rob Reiner during its ‘In Memoriam’ segment, bringing together Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan, stars of his classic film When Harry Met Sally. Other actors from Reiner’s movies might be involved as well, though Corey Feldman, who appeared in Stand by Me, says he wasn’t asked to participate, while his co-stars Jerry O’Connell and Wil Wheaton were.
