A New Mario Kart May Have Been Revealed In Switch 2 Trailer

It appears that Nintendo may be unveiling a potential new Mario Kart game designed for the upcoming Switch 2, as suggested by the console’s trailer.

Towards the closing moments of the Switch 2’s unveiling trailer, footage from Mario Kart shows characters like Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Peach, and Toad racing on a desert track. A sign reading “Yoshi” is visible, suggesting it could be a restaurant or gas station.

The trailer didn’t clearly state if this new Mario Kart game is entirely original or another version of Mario Kart 8, but there are some fresh details that fans have noticed. It seems the design of Donkey Kong’s character in this game is reminiscent of his appearance in the Super Mario Bros. movie. Additionally, it appears that as many as 24 racers can participate in a single race.

In the year 2022, there were rumors that Mario Kart 9 was being created with a fresh spin on the gameplay. Details about this new version may be unveiled during Nintendo’s Direct broadcast on April 2. Notably, the Nintendo Switch has only seen Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and some additional downloadable content as its numbered Mario Kart releases.

This year, we can expect the release of Nintendo Switch 2. On January 16, its unveiling took place. The new console has been officially verified as being compatible with games from the original Switch, and from April onwards, interested individuals will have the opportunity to test it out directly.
