A lucky player finds a PS4 for just 5 dollars at a second-hand store, takes it home, and has his very first PlayStation

Man, wouldn’t it be amazing to dig through the dusty relics of a thrift store and find an old-school gaming console at a steal? It’d be an understatement to say I don’t scour these places in my free time! Yet, I haven’t had that stroke of luck, not even close. But this guy… he found a relatively recent device, and the price was so absurdly low, it’s hard to believe!

A working PS4 for under $5

reddit user ‘narfnermods’ posted an amazing find on the PlayStation subreddit: a $4.99 PlayStation 4 they stumbled upon at a thrift store. He was about to pass it by, hidden among small kitchen appliances, but the distinctive PS4 logo caught his attention.

Usually, you’d find a PS4 1TB model, sleek and compact, coming with at least one controller and a power cord, for a starting price of $200 or more. Unfortunately, this offer, which just featured the console, turned out to be too good to be true.

Here’s what happened next:

  1. He took a gamble, bought it, and went home. He already had the necessary cables to test it and was able to borrow a controller from a friend.
  2. He hooked it up to the TV and was amazed to find that the console worked perfectly, with 600 GB of free storage.
  3. It was an incredible stroke of luck, especially since his son had been hoping for a PS5 for Christmas to play Spider-Man. Now, all that’s left to do is format the console and pick up some used gamepads and games.

This incident brings back memories of stumbling upon an unused PlayStation 3 on the sidewalk. After bringing it home, I was already in possession of a PS4 at that point, causing the find to sit idle ever since. I ponder if it still functions or has become inhabited by dead insects instead. Fear keeps me from verifying its condition.
