2025 has barely gotten started, yet there’s already a buzz surrounding the upcoming Nintendo console – the Nintendo Switch 2. Already, whispers and sneak peeks about this new console have been popping up online. So far, various sources claim to have insider knowledge on the design of the Switch 2 Joy-Con controllers, images of which have been shared widely online. Additionally, there are rumors swirling that a number of games originally released for the Switch could see upgrades specifically for the Nintendo Switch 2. As a dedicated fan, I can hardly wait to see what this new console has in store!

A rumor about a potential Switch 2 has surfaced online, stemming from a third-party game said to be in development for the upcoming console. Yet, Nintendo hasn’t confirmed this leak to validate its authenticity. The rumor originated from a video by YouTuber Doctre 81 and was later reported on by Universonintendo, with both the video and the report gaining significant attention last weekend.

The YouTuber highlighted an important fact: the developer had listed on their LinkedIn profile that they’d worked on Gotham Knights for an “unrevealed platform” until March 2023, which could potentially be Switch 2. Earlier reports suggested a possible Switch port for Gotham Knights based on a leak from a Korean game ratings website; however, this never materialized as it seems Warner Bros. Games might have shifted towards releasing the game on Switch 2 instead. Neither Nintendo nor WB Games have confirmed this as of now.

There’s talk circulating that Hello Games could be preparing a Switch 2 upgrade for their game No Man’s Sky, but this hasn’t been confirmed yet since Nintendo has not officially revealed the Switch 2 console. Rumors suggest that the console might be presented to the public as early as within this fiscal year, as stated by Nintendo’s president Shuntaro Furukawa during a press conference following their earnings results announcement in November 2024.
