Ira Parker, a showrunner for ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,’ recently discussed the Season 1 finale, revealing that a scene not found in the original books will significantly impact the events of Season 2. Be warned – spoilers follow!
The sixth episode of ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ focused on the aftermath of the Trial of Seven, showing how feelings of guilt and sadness impacted the key characters.
The story takes a surprising turn halfway through, completely shifting the narrative. Ultimately, Dunk and Egg are reunited and decide to travel to Dorne together.
However, this episode concludes with a scene not found in George R.R. Martin’s original books, and it introduces a storyline that will be continued in the upcoming series, The Sworn Sword.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 1 thread will be pulled in Season 2

The scene shows Maekar discovering that Egg has once again slipped away with Dunk to go on another adventure.
Ira Parker, the showrunner, says that event will be important in Season 2, which will be based on the second story in George R.R. Martin’s ‘Dunk & Egg’ series.
Parker explains to Entertainment Weekly that they’re aiming for each installment to feel self-contained. Because these are novellas, they don’t want ongoing, unresolved storylines. Instead, each season features Dunk and Egg in a new setting, tells a complete story, and then wraps it up.
This is a minor point, but I don’t want to introduce changes that would significantly alter the story we’re planning for Season 2 and make it overly complicated. We will deal with it, but hopefully it won’t spoil anyone’s enjoyment of The Sworn Sword.
Expect to see Aerion and Maekar in The Sworn Sword

Parker recently told Variety that both Maekar and Prince Aerion, the villain from Season 1, are expected to appear in Season 2.
Parker explains that while the royal characters in the show are fascinating, the series isn’t about them. He points out that many other shows already explore those kinds of stories, and this one focuses on something different.
Our story is told from the ground up, focusing on the experiences of even the smallest characters. We strictly maintain this perspective – we never show what those minor lords and ladies are thinking or feeling behind the scenes. This is the storytelling approach we’ve chosen for the show, for better or worse.
It’s likely we’ll see characters return to the world of Dunk and Egg. Westeros… well, yes. That’s all I’ll say about that.
