A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms Season 2 To Wrap Filming In Time For 2027 Release

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 is almost done filming.

As a huge fan of the Game of Thrones universe, I’m really excited to hear that season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is wrapping up filming right on schedule for a 2027 release! The first season left Dunk and Egg heading off on a new journey, and it sounds like this next installment will be directly based on George R.R. Martin’s fantastic novellas about their adventures. I can’t wait to see what they get up to!

A recent report from Deadline, announcing that actor Dexter Sol Ansell (who plays Egg) has joined WME, also confirmed that filming for season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is nearing completion. The season is expected to wrap up production in June 2026, keeping the show on track for its planned 2027 release.

What To Expect From A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms Season 2

The first season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms set the stage for the larger journey of Dunk and Egg throughout the series. After Baelor Targaryen’s death during the trial by combat, Dunk and Egg continued their travels. However, the prince embarked on this new adventure without getting permission from Maekar first.

Currently, season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is planned to be set in Dorne. It will adapt The Sworn Sword, the second story in George R.R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg series. Like the first season, it’s expected to have six episodes.

While we don’t have all the details yet, season 2 will finally show the main characters from A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms as a proper knight and squire on a new adventure. This season will be different from the first, as it won’t focus on the Targaryen storyline that drove the plot in season 1.

This change would significantly differentiate the show from House of the Dragon, the other Game of Thrones spinoff returning in June. While the specific plot is still secret, what’s been announced suggests the next story will focus on a deepening friendship between Dunk and Egg as they embark on a new journey as knights.

How Long Will A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms Last?

Season 2 is currently being filmed, but it’s still unclear how long the show, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, will run. The show is based on a series of three published books, plus additional stories by George R.R. Martin that haven’t been released to the public. Fortunately, the showrunner, Ira Parker, has access to all of this material.

I’m really excited about the potential of the Tales of Dunk and Egg TV show. Martin’s planning a pretty extensive collection of stories – anywhere from six to twelve! – which gives the showrunners a ton of material to pull from for compelling adventures. And it sounds like they’re aiming to follow Dunk and Egg throughout their entire lives, just like the original stories, and that’s fantastic news for fans – as long as the show continues, we’ll get to see their journey unfold.

Filming for season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is finishing up in a few months, so we’ll likely hear more details about what’s next soon. This includes what challenges Dunk and Egg will face and how their friendship will develop as they continue their travels.
