A Gross 9-1-1 Injustice That No One Is Talking About Is On Full Display During Harry’s First Day At The 118

Warning! Spoilers ahead for 9-1-1 season 9, episode 10, “Handle with Care.”

Harry’s first day with the 118 brought about a lot of changes, and quietly revealed a significant, but often overlooked, problem within the world of 9-1-1. The show is entering a new phase, especially after the events of season 8, where Bobby’s death dramatically altered life at the Los Angeles firehouse.

Watching season 9 of 9-1-1 has been really interesting. It’s clear they’re still processing the huge loss everyone went through last season, and it’s been powerful to see how each character is dealing with their grief. But I’ve also noticed the show is subtly setting up some exciting new storylines! They’re really shaking things up at the 118 – seeing Chimney step into the captain’s role is fantastic, and I’m so excited to see how Harry will fit in with the team. It feels like a fresh start for everyone.

Chimney’s Coddling Harry Highlights How Unfairly Treated Ravi Has Been

Okay, so in the latest 9-1-1, we see Chimney really struggling with Harry joining the 118. It’s clear he’s worried, especially knowing how much Bobby and Athena care about this new guy. He goes into full overprotective mode, almost like he thinks shielding Harry from danger will somehow make the job safer – which, let’s face it, is a bit misguided. What’s really interesting, though, is that Chimney starts offloading all the rookie tasks onto Ravi, even something as simple as getting everyone’s coffee. It’s a funny little detail, but it shows how uneasy he is about having another new person on the team.

It’s definitely not Harry’s fault, and Ravi was one of the original, youngest members of the 118 before Bobby’s stepson arrived. This storyline highlights how unfairly Anirudh Pisharody has been treated on 9-1-1. He’s still listed as a ‘guest star’ despite being a regular face on the show, and honestly, he deserves to be a series regular now that he’s an official firefighter with the 118. Plus, Ravi is often underused, only appearing when his character is needed to advance someone else’s story.

Why Ravi Deserves To Be A Series Regular On 9-1-1

Now that Harry is officially training as a firefighter, he’ll likely remain a key focus of the show 9-1-1 in the seasons ahead. While it’s great to see a character with his experiences bringing something new to the series, his story shouldn’t overshadow those of other characters, especially Ravi. There’s still a lot of potential to develop Ravi’s character beyond just supporting his colleagues.

The show should officially recognize Ravi as a core cast member by making him a series regular. He already appears on 9-1-1 as often as the other main actors, is fully integrated into the 118 team, and played a key role in a major storyline – Bobby’s death. Now, the show can build on this foundation and explore Ravi’s backstory further, potentially with a dedicated origin story.
