People have enjoyed simulator games for a long time. The Farming Simulator series is incredibly popular, and games like Cooking Simulator and Truck Simulator prove how much players love getting lost in these detailed experiences. While many space simulators exist, such as No Man’s Sky and Star Citizen, a new game is taking a unique approach.
REAL MOON will offer the most realistic exploration of the Moon ever seen in a game.
Moon tourism starts here
REAL MOON is a new space exploration game developed by historia Inc., the team behind Live A Live and The Caligula Effect 2. The game strives for incredible realism, accurately recreating the Moon’s surface using real data and simulations, in partnership with Japan’s space agency, JAXA. Even better, it will be free to play!
In REAL MOON, you play as a lunar explorer on the Moon. You can either walk around or drive a rover across the surface. The game has one main mission that takes about 15 to 30 minutes to complete—similar to the length of their earlier demo, The Market of Light. After finishing the mission, you’re welcome to freely explore the Moon’s scenery at your leisure.

The virtual environment is incredibly detailed, created with precise elevation data, authentic crater and rock placement, and landforms informed by scientific studies. To further enhance realism, the positions of the Sun, Earth, and Moon change over time, accurately reflecting their actual orbital paths.
Forget spaceships and explosions! REAL MOON isn’t about a thrilling story – it’s a realistic experience focused on scientific accuracy and peaceful exploration. The game aims to let you truly feel like you’re an astronaut walking on the Moon. It doesn’t have a release date yet, but you can add it to your Steam wishlist to get updates.
