A beloved show is returning with new episodes that will build towards a big event later this year.
Uru-chan’s popular WEBTOON series, unOrdinary, has returned from a break with new episodes as of May 27th. The latest episode, number 380, continues the story after a dramatic cliffhanger, and the series is building towards its 400th episode. This milestone will arrive soon after unOrdinary celebrates its 10-year anniversary on the platform.
Why 2026 Is the Biggest Year Ever for Uru-chan’s unOrdinary on WEBTOON
The webcomic unOrdinary, created by Uru-chan, first launched on May 24, 2016. It’s set in a world similar to many popular stories and follows John Doe, a student at Wellstone Private High School who is unique because he doesn’t have any superpowers.
Things appear simple at first, but John soon reveals hidden talents and finds himself caught in a conflict between two very different groups.
One group ruthlessly eliminates anyone trying to become a vigilante, often doing so in public. The other, Spectre, focuses on finding and recruiting influential people to support their mysterious research.
As the story progresses, John discovers enemies are everywhere, and he’s constantly surprised by shocking secrets. Recent events have been particularly dramatic, even leading to some key characters losing their abilities.
I’m a huge fan of unOrdinary, and it’s amazing how quickly it’s become popular! It’s really built a dedicated following, and the numbers speak for themselves – as of right now, it’s racked up over 1.76 billion views! That puts it right behind Lore Olympus as the second most-viewed WEBTOON series in English, which is incredible!
When asked about celebrating the ten-year anniversary of unOrdinary, creator Uru-chan said she never expected it! She originally planned it as a short, lighthearted story focusing on a minor character in a world of heroes. She was amazed by how much the story had grown, now spanning over 380 episodes.
This feels like a personal record of my creative journey over the past ten years—almost like a ten-year conversation with everyone who’s followed my work.
It’s been amazing watching how webcomics have changed! I started back in 2016, and honestly, there weren’t many full-color comics being updated regularly then. I was totally new to drawing action scenes and the Webtoon format, and finding resources to learn from was a real struggle – I had to learn almost everything by trial and error. Now, fast forward ten years, and it’s incredible! We’ve got so many new comics popping up, tons of helpful drawing tools, and all sorts of tutorials available. Plus, webcomic studios are really helping new artists learn and create faster. It’s super inspiring, and it makes me constantly think about how I can improve my own workflow and keep getting better!
unOrdinary is currently available on WEBTOON.
