A Decade Old Food Network Series Just Got The Axe As Cable Originals Continue To Dwindle

The TV lineup for 2025, and what’s been happening with it, shows how much entertainment is changing. Many shows have been canceled this year, and more cancellations are still happening – even as 2025 comes to a close. Just recently, Food Network ended a popular show that had been on the air for over ten years.

Which Food-Centric Show Is Coming To An End?

It’s a sad day for culinary connoisseurs, as Food Network confirmed it officially canceled The Kitchen. The weekend-based talk show’s demise represents the end of an era for the channel, which is trying to keep up with changing viewership habits in recent years like many other brands. News of the show’s cancellation was posted to Food Network’s official Instagram account, and the post includes a couple of sweet photos of the show’s hosts. It’s hard to believe, but after 40 amazing seasons and over 500 episodes, The Kitchen is coming to an end on December 13th. As a longtime viewer, I’m so grateful for the past 10+ years – it feels like we’ve all been cooking together! I want to thank the hosts, the crew, and especially all of us, the fans, for making this show so special. I’m really going to miss tuning in, but I’ll definitely be watching one last time for a final holiday season with everyone in The Kitchen. ❤️

Premiering on Food Network in 2014, The Kitchen is currently hosted by Jeff Mauro, Sunny Anderson, Katie Lee Biegel, and Geoffrey Zakarian. Alex Guarnaschelli often appears as a guest host, and Marcella Valladolid was one of the show’s original hosts, leaving in 2017. The program features experienced cooks sharing recipes with viewers, and occasionally includes appearances by celebrity guests.

I heard the last episode of that talk show I love is coming up on December 13th, and honestly, I think it’s going to be pretty emotional – I wouldn’t be shocked if people get a little teary-eyed. Right now, it’s cool to see so many former stars from the show sharing their memories and paying tribute to everything it’s meant to them.

Jeff Mauro, Bobby Flay And More Speak Out After The Kitchen’s Cancellation

As of this writing, Jeff Mauro is the only Kitchen star to pen a lengthy tribute to the excellent cooking show. The chef and TV personality took to Instagram to share an emotional message with which he reflected on his tenure on the show and thanked his co-stars and the crew for the memories. Mauro ultimately closed out his post with some particularly sentimental and thoughtful comments:

I’m surprised by how sad I feel, but I’m still hopeful about the future. I’m incredibly thankful for this amazing opportunity, one I’ll always cherish. And now, with one book finished, it’s time to start writing the next installment in this funny, heartwarming series!

Celebrity chef Bobby Flay – who many felt had already distanced himself from Food Network years ago – was among those reacting to the network’s recent announcement. He shared a warm and heartfelt goodbye message to the team behind the show Kitchen.

We want to thank The Kitchen and all of its talented chefs and hosts for ten amazing years on Food Network. What an incredible and memorable show!
