It appears that Hulu has decided against moving forward with the production of Sarah J. Maas’s “A Court of Thorns and Roses” into a scripted series, as confirmed by Vulture. This unfortunate news was broken over Valentine’s Weekend, which is typically associated with flowers and romance. Representatives for 20th Television and Hulu have declined to comment on the matter. The project had been in development since 2021, with “Outlander”‘s Ronald D. Moore initially attached as showrunner. Previously, there was speculation that the series may have been canceled, but Hulu confirmed that “ACOTAR” was still in development in February 2024. According to Variety, Maas is now exploring options to take the series elsewhere, as Disney holds the rights until summer 2025. The next studio will now have until the end of the summer to prepare for potential competition.
