‘A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving’ Beaten on Apple TV Streaming Chart by ‘The Family Plan 2’

Right now, a certain movie is number one on Apple TV’s chart, but many people believe A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving deserves the top spot this weekend. As of today, the classic 1973 Thanksgiving film is second on the U.S. Apple TV chart, just behind the current number one and ahead of both Mark Wahlberg’s latest movie and the previous year’s film.

For many families, watching A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving is a yearly tradition. Along with A Charlie Brown Halloween and A Charlie Brown Christmas, these beloved specials have been enjoyed by generations for over fifty years, and A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving is likely to be a favorite again this year.

Although A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving doesn’t have overwhelmingly high ratings from critics (70%) or audiences (76%), most people agree that watching it is a key part of the Thanksgiving tradition. As LaToya Ferguson of The AV Club says, it just doesn’t feel like Thanksgiving until you’ve seen the Peanuts movie.

“Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang are always the right medicine for any and every holiday.”

Many viewers believe this movie should be a Thanksgiving tradition, like the turkey itself, and some have described watching it as a powerfully nostalgic experience. It’s clear that A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving is being much more positively received than the film currently at the top of Apple TV’s charts.

Mark Wahlberg’s ‘The Family Plan 2’ Is a Hit but Not With Critics

Apple TV

Mark Wahlberg is known for his action movies, and 2023’s The Family Plan was a big success on Apple TV+. The sequel, The Family Plan 2, is also proving popular with viewers, but critics haven’t been impressed – it’s received very negative reviews across the board.

Mark Wahlberg’s latest film, a return to his role as Dan Morgan, initially received very poor reviews, scoring just 15% on Rotten Tomatoes. While the score has recently improved to 35%, it’s still considered a poorly reviewed film. Though the basic storyline – a former assassin’s vacation is interrupted by someone from his past – isn’t necessarily bad, it’s a familiar plot that others have executed more effectively. Audiences haven’t been impressed either, with one critic famously calling it “the most forgettable movie ever made.”

As the holidays approach, people are always looking for something to watch. While there are lots of choices, a new movie tends to grab attention, even if it’s not necessarily a great film.
