Blizzard has finally confirmed the arrival of Vendetta, a sword-wielding hero who has been heavily speculated about, as the newest addition to Overwatch 2 in Season 20.
Overwatch 2 has consistently added new characters since its release, with a new one joining the game every few seasons. This has created a diverse and extensive lineup, featuring everything from powerful Tanks like Mauga to quick and effective healers like Juno.
Blizzard isn’t finished yet, and they’ve just unveiled their 45th hero. Here’s a rundown of everything we know about Vendetta.
Vendetta release date
The new Overwatch 2 character, Vendetta, will be available starting Tuesday, December 9, 2025, with the release of Season 20.
Hero test
Following a now-familiar pattern, the hero Vendetta will be playable in all Quick Play game modes from November 26th to December 1st. However, she won’t be available in Competitive matches during this test period.
This will help the developers collect useful feedback and information so they can refine her abilities before the game officially launches.
Vendetta role
Vendetta will be a damage-dealing hero, continuing a recent trend – two of the last three new heroes, including Freja from Season 16, have focused on dealing damage. This brings the total number of damage-dealing heroes in the game to 20.
Who is Vendetta?
Vendetta is an Italian gladiator who fights with a sword. After her father died, she became a warrior and quickly gained the nickname ‘La Lupa,’ meaning She-Wolf of Retaliation.
The reveal trailer shows she’s seen as a villain in the arena, with the audience constantly booing her matches. However, she thrives on this negativity, using it to become incredibly powerful in the Colesseo – so much so that her sword is eventually put on display as a testament to her skill.
