The fifth and final season of Netflix’s hit show, Stranger Things, is coming, and actor Caleb McLaughlin has described it as being similar to anime. However, the comparison isn’t what viewers might think.
The actors are currently traveling the world to promote the first part of the new release, which comes out on November 26th. Everyone involved is saying the final season will be very moving, for both those making it and those watching.
Okay, so everyone’s been going wild with theories about how Stranger Things is going to end, and I’ve seen one that’s really stuck with me. Apparently, some people think Eleven might actually become the new ruler of the Upside Down, taking Vecna’s place! Honestly, after everything that’s happened, I wouldn’t be surprised by anything at this point. The final showdown with Vecna is going to be brutal, and I’m genuinely worried about what’s going to happen to the Hawkins crew.
Caleb McLaughlin, known for his role as Lucas on Stranger Things, said the show’s finale felt similar to anime, not because of exciting fight scenes, but because of the overall mood and feeling of the episode.
Caleb McLaughlin compares Stranger Things finale to anime
During an interview with Collider, the actors were talking about how the episode concluded when Caleb McLaughlin pointed out that the music – both the soundtrack and score – felt very similar to what you’d hear in an anime.
It felt incredibly cinematic, almost like a scene from an anime. The moment was slow, beautiful, and emotionally powerful, enhanced by the music. I was really focused on everyone’s expressions, and that’s what the whole experience felt like – hopefully, that makes sense.
He added: “Like a flashback. It almost felt like a flashback.”
Okay, so the music in this show is always on point, but Season 4’s ‘Dear Billy’ episode was something else. Everyone remembers when Max was stuck with Vecna, and Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill’ saved her, right? That song blew up immediately after the episode aired. It was such a powerful scene, and honestly, the song just fit perfectly – it got stuck in everyone’s head and we all felt the emotion so strongly!
McLaughlin is intentionally keeping the song used in this scene a secret, but fans of Stranger Things should anticipate a new viral TikTok trend when the final episode drops on Netflix December 31st.
How many episodes are in Stranger Things Season 5?

Season 5 of Stranger Things will have eight episodes. Because it’s the final season, Netflix is releasing it in three parts to create a bigger viewing experience. The first part, with four episodes, will be available on November 26th.
The second volume will be released on December 25th – a holiday gift from Netflix! Let’s hope everyone in Hawkins makes it out okay and gets a happy ending… though we’ll see! The very last episode drops on December 31st, just in time for the New Year.
