During a lengthy Nintendo Direct presentation, Pokémon surprised fans with several appearances, one of which was the peculiar new game, Pokémon Pokopia. This game seems to blend aspects of Animal Crossing with classic Pokémon elements. Additionally, enthusiasts of the monster-collecting series were treated to updates about the upcoming title, Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
Not only did we get a sneak peek at some fresh Mega Evolutions today, but it was also announced that downloadable content (DLC) for Legends: Z-A is in development, even before the game’s release.
Five new Mega Evolutions have been revealed for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, plus a DLC tease
So far, four new Mega Evolutions have been unveiled in the game Legends: Z-A, and the latest two seem to follow a pattern by featuring Pokémon originally from the Kalos region. In today’s trailer, we got a glimpse of the three original starter Pokémon from X & Y – Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja – each set to undergo Mega Evolutions in the game. The redesigns amplify their initial concepts, transforming Chesnaught into a battle-armored warrior, Delphox into a broom-riding witch, and Greninja into an even stealthier ninja… or perhaps something flipped upside-down?
It seems perfectly appropriate that the trio, who were part of the game where Mega Evolution was first introduced, now have the opportunity to utilize this feature themselves. Although I’m still debating on the design aspects, I must admit it’s quite thrilling. As per the Pokémon Legends: Z-A official site, these Mega Evolutions can be acquired by earning points from battling other trainers in online Ranked Battles at the Z-A Battle Club, and receiving Mega Stones as rewards. This suggests that they won’t appear naturally within the game. However, making an online requirement for accessing these Mega Evolutions could potentially dissatisfy some players.
Apart from the new trailer revealing details about the game “Legends: Z-A,” there’s more exciting news. The trailer hinted at upcoming downloadable content for the game, titled Mega Dimensions, which will also introduce two new Mega Evolutions for Raichu, a evolution of Pikachu. Similar to Charizard having both X and Y Mega Forms, it appears that Raichu will follow suit. The Mega Dimensions DLC seems to involve the mythical Pokémon Hoopa in some significant way, according to the game’s official website.
