We Ate The Popeyes Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 Deluxe Box

Fast food restaurants and video games frequently collaborate, often through toys or collectible cards included with kids’ meals. Now, Popeyes is joining the trend by creating a special meal to coincide with the release of the new Five Nights at Freddy’s movie.

Popeyes’ new Freddy Fazbear Deluxe Box costs $13 and includes two new sides plus a fresh take on a classic menu item. We tried it out, and we were impressed – we might even order it again!

The Freddy Fazbear Deluxe Box contains the following:

  • Three* chicken fingers with a special garlic parmesan rub
  • An order of Cheesy Bites, hand-breaded fried cheese curds which are also garlic-crusted, and a cup of marinara sauce to dip
  • A Cupcake Cup, a strawberry-flavored cake with pink icing
  • A soft drink of your choice

The meal was supposed to include three chicken fingers, but I only received two. While that was a bit disappointing, it didn’t spoil the whole experience.

You can also get the Freddy Fazbear Box for $8, which includes chicken fingers and Cheesy Bites, but not the Cupcake. The Cheesy Bites (with marinara dipping sauce) and the Cupcake are both available separately for $4 each.

The Cheesy Bites, Cupcake Cup, and garlic parmesan seasoning are exclusive to the Freddy Fazbear meal, and it’s a really clever idea – it successfully captures the feeling of a pizza place in a chicken nugget box. Whoever thought of it deserves credit!

Let’s go through this meal item by item. First, the drink was sweet tea, which wasn’t ideal for me since I don’t enjoy iced tea. But I know most people do like it!

Cheesy Bites

Let’s start with what I ate, going in order. First up were the Cheesy Bites. It’s tough to mess up fried cheese curds, and Popeyes thankfully delivered – they were good!

Okay, seriously, these cheese curds were amazing! They were perfectly hot and melty, and the way they fried them with garlic parmesan bread crumbs? It tasted just like eating little mozzarella sticks! They even gave me a side of marinara for dipping, which was a thoughtful touch, though I ended up not using it as much as I expected.

Chicken fingers

I’ve had Popeyes chicken before, and similar to their Cheesy Bites, the garlic parmesan seasoning on these chicken fingers was a pleasant and unique addition. Plus, the fingers were a good size – really satisfying!

While it wasn’t originally planned, feel free to dip your chicken fingers in the marinara sauce – it’s delicious! It actually makes me think we should definitely collaborate on a ‘chicken fingers parmesan’ idea sometime. Try it and you’ll see what I mean!

Cupcake Cup

The Cupcake Cup is a delightful treat, with its bright pink strawberry icing adding a cheerful touch and wonderful flavor. The rich, buttery cake inside is the perfect way to end a meal.

Okay, a quick heads-up about this dessert: it’s really rich! Seriously, it’s the kind of cake that just sits in your stomach like a brick. I’d definitely recommend waiting until after dinner to try it, because you might find yourself completely wiped out and unable to do much of anything if you have it beforehand!

Overall, this is a pretty good value for the price. The food tastes good, and the pizzeria theme is fun – from the garlic parmesan seasoning to the bright pink cake. The Cheesy Bites are especially good and could easily become a regular item on the Popeyes menu. It’s a solid meal and a good deal – nothing to worry about here!
