On November 17th, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto revealed the first images from the upcoming live-action Legend of Zelda movie, which he’s producing with former Marvel Studios CEO Avi Arad. The photos show Bo Bragason (not Hunter Schafer, as previously rumored) as Princess Zelda, complete with elf ears and a bow and arrow, and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth looking serious as Link. Miyamoto announced on Nintendo’s X account that filming is going well and the movie is still scheduled for release on May 7, 2027. He asked fans to be patient and look forward to it.
While the location hasn’t been officially announced, filming for the upcoming live-action Zelda adaptation likely began in Wellington, New Zealand, on November 4th, according to production details. The story will follow Link on a dangerous adventure where he fights monsters, explores challenging dungeons, and solves complex puzzles to find powerful artifacts. These artifacts will help him defeat Ganon, a cruel and powerful warlord. Recent official photos of the characters follow a leaked video from November 14th, which appeared to show Dichen Lachman (known for Severance) giving Zelda a sword, leading fans to believe she might be playing Impa – though this hasn’t been confirmed. Despite these glimpses, fans are still eager to find out one key thing: will Link have dialogue in the film?
