Ten superheroes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be sporting brand new costumes in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie. This film is shaping up to be a massive event, potentially the biggest superhero movie ever made, and will finally introduce some beloved Marvel characters into the MCU. Based on what other recent films have done, fans are anticipating a lot of fresh character designs and appearances.
Makeup artist Giovanna Ponci (according to Daniel Richtman) posted a photo of a wrap gift given to everyone working on the Marvel movie Avengers: Doomsday. The gift was a bag featuring artwork of all 28 characters in the film, and 10 of them were shown in brand new costumes that they’ll be wearing in future projects. Hints about new costumes for some of the actors have already been appearing online, and this gift offers another glimpse at what’s to come for a few Marvel favorites.
Marvel’s next Avengers film, titled Avengers: Doomsday, will be the fifth team-up movie and the 39th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Currently, 27 actors are set to appear, and they’ll be battling Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr., whose plans put the entire multiverse at risk. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.

Thor

Chris Hemsworth is preparing to play Thor for the tenth time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (excluding any past footage used in Deadpool & Wolverine). He’ll reprise the role of the God of Thunder in the upcoming film Doomsday. Having worn many different costumes as Thor over the last ten years, the former King of Asgard will add another outfit to his collection in 2026, following the two he wore in 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder.
Thor’s costume in the upcoming film resembles the darker, sleeveless outfits he wore in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. It features gold circles on the chest. He also appears to be sporting a shorter hairstyle, similar to what he had in Infinity War, a change from his traditionally long hair.
Mr. Fantastic

Pedro Pascal joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Reed Richards, also known as Mr. Fantastic, in the 2025 film The Fantastic Four: First Steps. He sported a classic blue and white suit inspired by the 1960s version of the character, featuring the team’s “4” emblem. However, it looks like he’ll be getting a new costume in the upcoming movie, Doomsday.
His main costume is largely the same, but he’ll also be wearing a new white jacket with a blue collar – something we didn’t see in previous appearances like The Fantastic Four. It remains to be seen how long he’ll keep the jacket as part of his look, and whether its appearance is tied to events happening in his own world or after he arrives in the main Marvel universe (Earth-616).
Invisible Woman

Vanessa Kirby made her Marvel debut as Sue Storm, also known as the Invisible Woman, in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. She showcased powerful abilities alongside her co-star Pedro Pascal and the rest of the team, sporting a blue and white costume that will be updated for future appearances.
I’m really excited about how Sue Storm will look in Doomsday! From what I’ve heard, she’ll be sporting a cool blue and white jacket over her usual costume – similar to what Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards is getting. Apparently, it might not be her everyday look, but it’ll be what she’s wearing when the Fantastic Four finally team up with all the other big heroes in the MCU. It’s going to be epic!
Human Torch

Joseph Quinn, who plays the Human Torch (Johnny Storm) in the upcoming Avengers movie, will be getting a new costume. He’ll be joining his teammates Reed and Sue in receiving updated looks for the film, following the style established in The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
In the upcoming movie Doomsday, Johnny Storm, also known as the Human Torch, will have a jacket that mostly covers his superhero costume, as seen in promotional photos of the cast. Fans will have to wait until 2026, when he returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, to see the full extent of his updated look and powers.
M’Baku

Winston Duke is a familiar face in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’s about to appear in his fifth Marvel movie as M’Baku, the leader of Wakanda’s Jabari tribe. Having played M’Baku in both Black Panther films and the last two Avengers movies over the past seven years, he’s sported several different looks for the role.
In the upcoming film, Doomsday’s costume seems different than before. Instead of the black armor he wore in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, he now appears to have gold material draped from his shoulders. As one of Wakanda’s leaders, fans will likely be very interested to see his full new look.
Namor

Tenoch Huerta will reprise his role as Namor the Sub-Mariner in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. He first appeared as the villain in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. While he wore very little clothing in that film, Namor will be seen in a more fully covered outfit for Doomsday.
Another unclear picture shows Namor wearing a blue vest over a black long-sleeved shirt, completely covering his upper body. Since he might not rely on water as much when he returns, this outfit could be for practical reasons, though we don’t know for sure yet.
Professor X

Patrick Stewart is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Professor Charles Xavier in the upcoming film, Avengers: Doomsday. This will be his tenth time playing the character, adding to his eight appearances in the X-Men films produced by 20th Century Fox and his first MCU role in 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – making it a record-breaking run for the actor.
Professor X typically wears a suit and tie, but his outfit in Doomsday is a bit more relaxed. He’s wearing a turtleneck under a dark jacket. He’s also swapped his familiar, large yellow wheelchair for a sleeker, more manageable one.
Mystique

A surprising casting choice for the upcoming movie Doomsday is Rebecca Romijn, who will reprise her role as Mystique (Raven Darkhölme). This will be the fifth time Romijn has played the shapeshifting character, having previously portrayed her in four X-Men films before bringing the role to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2026.
Famously known for her revealing appearance, Mystique, as portrayed by Romijn, will wear a full costume for the first time – a white and blue outfit covering her entire body. This film marks a significant visual update for the character, and fans are eager to see what other looks she’ll adopt.
Cyclops

Okay, so I’m hearing some seriously cool news! Apparently, James Marsden, who I always thought nailed Cyclops in the original X-Men movies, is finally joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Word is he’ll be showing up in Avengers: Doomsday. He was great leading the team in those first three X-Men films, and even popped up in Days of Future Past, but now it looks like he’s officially part of the MCU family with the rest of the X-Men in that big sequel coming out in 2026. I’m really excited to see how they integrate him!
Fans have long associated Cyclops with his blue and yellow costume, complete with a red visor, as seen in the comics and animated series. After previously playing the character in the original X-Men trilogy wearing a leather outfit, actor Marsden will now get to wear the iconic suit for the first time in a major, live-action Marvel film.
Nightcrawler

Alan Cumming is joining the cast of Avengers: Doomsday as Nightcrawler, the well-known blue mutant. Although Cumming has less experience with the role than other returning actors – his only previous appearance was in the 2003 film X2 – the Scottish actor is excited to make a big impact in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It’s hard to get a clear look at what Cumming is wearing, but he appears to be in a dark outfit with a collar and a hat. We’ll get a better view when the first images or footage of Nightcrawler are released, and fans are excited to see how this character will be introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
