During the latest Nintendo Direct broadcast, it was revealed that Atari, Digital Eclipse, and NetherRealm Studios are planning to launch Mortal Kombat Legacy Collection digitally on various consoles and PCs as early as October 30. This digital release is approximately two months ahead of its physical counterpart, scheduled for December 12.
The Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection utilizes an “interactive documentary” style, similar to that used in games such as Atari 50 and The Making of Karateka, and applies it to the long-standing Mortal Kombat series. This approach includes interviews with co-creators Ed Boon and John Tobias.
The set encompasses 11 independent Mortal Kombat titles across various platforms such as arcades, consoles, and handheld devices. You can find the complete list of these games in what follows:
- Mortal Kombat (Arcade, SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, Game Gear)
- Mortal Kombat II (Arcade, SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, 32X)
- Mortal Kombat 3 (Arcade, SNES, Genesis)
- Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (Arcade, WaveNet Arcade, SNES)
- Mortal Kombat Trilogy (PlayStation)
- Mortal Kombat 4 (Arcade)
- Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero (PlayStation)
- Mortal Kombat Special Forces (PlayStation)
- Mortal Kombat Advance (Game Boy Advance)
- Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance (Game Boy Advance)
- Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition (Game Boy Advance)
The Mortal Kombat Legacy Collection is set to release digitally on October 30, available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch (assumed next-gen model), and PC. Preorders for the physical copies of the game are open now, with a launch date scheduled for December 12. Preorders for PC and all consoles except Nintendo Switch will start on September 15.
Beyond, Hades 2, and Final Fantasy VII Intergrade were confirmed. Additionally, new installments in the Fire Emblem and Pokemon series were unveiled.
