How To Win Gift Of Gab In WWM (Where Winds Meet)

In Where Winds Meet, you can enjoy lots of engaging mini-games, including Pitch Pot and Mahjong. One standout is Gift of Gab, which lets you win arguments instead of fighting. You’ll use your cleverness and persuasive skills to debate with characters. It’s also handy in other situations – you can even use it to bribe people! Here’s a complete guide to Gift of Gab in WWM.

How To Win Gift Of Gab In WWM – Where Winds Meet

When you start a debate with a character, both of you will select a speaking style. The game will recommend the best style to use against your opponent, taking the guesswork out of choosing.

In Where Winds Meet, the main objective of each Gift of Gab is to deplete your opponent’s mental focus to zero. You can track your own mental focus on the bottom-left of the screen, and your opponent’s at the top-center. Each card you play has different effects, like boosting your attack or defense, temporarily stopping your opponent’s abilities, lessening damage you take, or regaining mental focus, among other things.

As a big fan of these Young Heroes, I’ve learned that getting inspired to use cards is super important! Basically, the more inspiration a card needs, the more powerful it is. Just remember, each card has a cooldown, so you can’t spam them – timing is key. You start each match with a certain amount of inspiration points, but you can get more by leveling up your ‘Gift of Gab’ mastery or boosting your stats in the Profession area. It really makes a difference!

During conversations in WWM, you’ll sometimes encounter a quick challenge called a QTE. This lets you react and potentially turn the tables on your opponent. You’ll have a short time to press the indicated button, and then you’ll be presented with three choices – often to deal more damage or regain some inspiration.

Every conversation in Where Winds Meet has a time limit. If the discussion goes on too long, both you and your opponent will start to lose concentration. Here’s how to succeed in these ‘Gift of Gab’ challenges:

  • Choose the correct Gift of Gab style.
  • Use high inspiration cards.
  • Be on the lookout for QTE buttons.
  • Don’t take too long reading the card effects, as you can always read them slowly in the Profession menu.
  • Once the timer runs out, prioritize damage-dealing cards.

You can always replay debates even if you don’t win, so feel free to leave the Gift of Gab mini-game and return whenever you’re ready. Winning a debate will reward you with items like Echo Jade and Intelligence, plus 100 affection points from the character you defeated.

How To Level Up Gift Of Gab Mastery In WWM – Where Winds Meet

Okay, so if you want to really get good with Gift of Gab, you have to unlock the Scholar Profession. I finally did it after hitting level 13 in the game – there’s this quest called ‘Legacy: Scholar’s Path’ you need to finish in WWM. Once you’re a Scholar, you can upgrade two things: your character’s skills in the ‘Scholar Upgrade’ section, and then the actual effects of your Gift of Gab cards in the ‘Gift of Gab Upgrade’ section. It makes a huge difference!

Scholar Upgrade

Improve your Scholar Rank by using the Career Notebook. It has five ranks, each with five tiers to progress through. You can earn a Career Notebook by winning the Gift of Gab competition or buy one from the Season Shop for 4 Jade Points.

Two types of attributes increase automatically in the Scholar Upgrade:

  • Basic Attributes: Affect all Gift of Gab Styles
  • Advanced Attributes: Affects certain Gift of Gab styles.

Gift Of Gab Upgrade

The Gift of Gab Upgrade boosts the power of all cards, no matter their type. What you need to perform the upgrade depends on the specific card. For instance, upgrading the ‘No Clue’ card from the ‘Rebuttal’ style requires ‘No Clue Scholar Gift of Gab Notes’. Players can find these materials as random rewards in the Season Shop by buying either the Scholar Giftbox or the Custom Career Giftbox.
