The quest ‘Blind to the World,’ found in the Qinghe region of Where Winds Meet, is a captivating experience focused on solving puzzles and exploring. Unlike many quests, it doesn’t rely much on fighting. You’ll assist Uncle Tian with a request from a secretive client of the Evercare Clinic, but reaching the location – a hidden cave beneath a lake – will require some effort and ingenuity.
Attempt to Open the Drainage
Once you’ve talked to Uncle Tian by the lake near Moonveil Mountain, you’ll need to figure out how to drain the water. Jump into the lake and swim to the bottom. You’ll find a stone plate with three chains attached. Follow these chains to locate the controls for the drainage system. Activate the levers at all three control points, and the lake will begin to empty.
Solve the Blind Girl’s Statue Puzzle
The key to solving this puzzle is the riddle Uncle Tian gives you. After the water drains, go to the muddy area and then to the large statue of the blindfolded woman. Talk to Uncle Tian again, and you’ll see plates light up around the statue. You need to step on these plates in a specific order, as described in the riddle: north, east, south, and west. Use your map or the image above to help you figure out which direction is which.
Stand on the tile behind the statue, then walk around it to the left. If you do this correctly, a door to a hidden underground area will open. The puzzles in this part of the game are much easier than those you faced in the Echoes of an Old Battle quest.
Find a Way to the Other Side
The entrance to this sacred area is guarded by arrow traps. Use fire arrows to burn away the ribbons that activate them, allowing you to proceed. You’ll soon come to a large cave with a broken bridge. Instead of crossing the bridge, search along the cave walls for an alternate path that leads around it to the other side.
The route is mostly straightforward, but you’ll need to swim across a section of water to finish it. Be careful not to touch the blue flowers in the cave – they’ll temporarily blind you. If you become blind while swimming, look for a path along the water’s surface; it will lead you to air.
Activate the Stone Gate’s Contraption
Okay, so I just swam through that underwater section and made it to the other side of the cave. Now there’s this big stone gate blocking my way. To open it, I had to head up to higher ground, across from the gate, and find this pedestal. When I touched it, some bells started ringing above the gate. Then, the symbols above the bells lit up, and I realized I needed my bow! I had to shoot those symbols in the exact order the bells rang – and I had to do that whole thing twice! It was a bit tricky, but finally, the gate opened.
Find What the Lunar Goddess Really Wants
After you go through the stone gate, you’ll find a large cave with a lake inside. This cave used to be the home of Li Zhenzhen, who Uncle Tian calls the Lunar Goddess. He used to replace her eyes, but she wouldn’t accept them. Now, you two need to gather some items for her.
Head down to where Li Zhenzhen lives. You’ll find a Moonlit Flower there – the one that can cause blindness. Take it, and then return to the Lunar Goddess. While you’re there, grab a Small Blade from a table nearby; you’ll need it for the quest.
Okay, so when I got back to the Lunar Goddess, I had to choose between giving them the Moonlit Flower or the Small Blade. Our group decided to go with the Moonlit Flower, and after that, a cutscene played and the quest was finished! To get out, I just went back to Li Zhenzhen’s room and squeezed through that hidden wall – pretty cool!
Blind to the World Rewards
- Blinding Mist (Mystic Skill)
- Li Zhenzhen Dusty Wedding Dress (Armor)
- 1 Medicinal Tales
- 8 Ebon Iron
- 4 Oscillating Jade
- 72 Echo Jade
- 120 Qinghe Exploration Points
- 100 Enlightenment Points
- 33k Character EXP
- 33k Coin
The primary reason to complete the ‘Blind to the World’ quest in Where Winds Meet is to unlock Blinding Mist. This Mystic Skill releases a poisonous fog that damages enemies and prevents them from attacking for 5 seconds. While it doesn’t work on tough opponents like bosses, it’s incredibly effective against large groups, and even allows you to instantly defeat affected enemies with the ‘Touch of Death’ ability. Using Blinding Mist requires 80 Vitality.
The Dusty Wedding Dress isn’t very remarkable. It’s a simple piece of armor that doesn’t stand out compared to rewards from bosses or other challenges, and unfortunately, it doesn’t even have a unique appearance. It’s okay to use if you need armor, but it’s generally not worth keeping if you have better options.
Medicinal Tales are always valuable. They help you improve your Medicine Chest in Where Winds Meet, allowing you to carry more healing items and making them more powerful. You’ll need a lot – hundreds, in fact – to fully upgrade your Chest, so collecting every one is worthwhile.
You’ll use most resources to improve your overall account. Echo Jades are mainly for getting new characters and items through the game’s summoning system, while others help you upgrade your gear and unlock skills and features. Qinghe Exploration Points are especially useful because they let you unlock special benefits for each area, like the ability to fly.
