Taylor Sheridan really knows how to attract big names, and Demi Moore is definitely one of them. But if you watched the first season of Landman, you probably barely saw her character, Cami. Well, get ready, because I recently spoke with Moore, and she promised Cami will have a much bigger role in Season 2. She joked that you won’t be asking ‘Where’s Cami?’ this time around – she’s going to be a key player in the oil drama when it returns in 2025. As a fan of The Substance, I’m excited to see what she brings to the table!
Many viewers felt Cami wasn’t featured enough in the first season of Landman and expressed a desire to see more of Demi Moore in the Billy Bob Thornton drama. It seems that was intentional all along. In a recent interview with TopMob, Moore revealed that Taylor Sheridan told her early on that Cami’s role would be limited in Season 1, but would become much more significant in Season 2. She shared with me that…
I traveled to Fort Worth, and he explained the premise of the show to me. I understood from the start that in the first season, my role would be brief and mysterious – a sort of ‘Where’s Waldo’ appearance. That was intentional, and it really shows his skill as a storyteller – you wouldn’t anticipate someone like Jon Hamm leaving so quickly.
I suspected as much. When Demi Moore was cast as Cami, I thought there must be more to her character than we were seeing. But her limited role in the first season, especially given all the attention she was getting for her critically acclaimed performance in The Substance, made it even more puzzling why Cami wasn’t more central to the story of Landman.
Okay, so it sounds like Cami’s character is really going to come into her own in Season 2. After Monty – Jon Hamm’s character – was killed off, she’s going to be much more central to the whole MTex story. Honestly, I’m most excited to see how she plays off Tommy Norris, Billy Bob Thornton’s character. Cami actually told me that’s what’s planned, and she was remembering her very first conversation with the show’s creator about it.
So, the next season would essentially see Cami navigating a completely new situation, stepping in to fill Monty’s role. However, she wouldn’t be an expert or fully understand this world – she’s only seen it from the outside, as it was a world they all created together.

You can watch the new season of Landman on Paramount+, which costs as little as $7.99 per month or $59.99 per year. Most of Taylor Sheridan’s other shows are also available there, so a subscription is a great way to access all his content.
Plans start at $7.99 per month, you can also opt for Premium by paying $12.99 per month. View Deal
Season 2 will focus on Tommy and Cami dealing with the aftermath of Monty’s death. The trailers suggest it will be a difficult time for them as they struggle to achieve what Moore’s character desires. There also seems to be tension building between Cami and Tommy, as they both try to establish dominance in their dynamic.
Demi Moore will have a significantly bigger part in the second season of Landman. I’m glad she won’t just be making brief, hard-to-spot appearances this time around. It looks like she’ll be a central figure, which I think fans will really enjoy.
You can find out how Cami fits into the latest season of Landman when Season 2 premieres on Paramount+ on November 16th. New episodes will be released every Sunday after that.
